     A sustainable city enhances the economic, social, cultural


    and environmental well being of current and future
    generations.
     Sustainable cities, sometimes known as eco cities are
    settlements designed to have as little impact on the
    environment as possible
    CHARCTERISTICS OF SUSTAINABLE
    CITIES

     A controlled population for whom adequate, meaningful employment is


    available.
     Planned housing colonies with adequate infrastructure like schools, parks,
    drainage system, local medicare establishments.
     An efficient healthcare system which would also address issues of nutrition,
    family planning and sanitation.
    ARCADIS SUSTIANABLE CITIES INDEX
    2022
     Sustainable sities index 2022 evaluates overall the sustainability
    performance of over 100 global cities.
     A recent study shows that Europe hos the most sustainable cities in
    the world, and US cities lag behind despite having strong
    economies.
     European capitals rank as the worlds most sustainable cities.
     The research also highlights various strengths and opportunities of
    specific cities, to simplify the complex factors that contribute to the
    urban experience.

     According to Arcadis Sustianable Cities Index 2022, the top 10 sustainable
    cities are:

    less.

    • Give priority to pedestrians and reduce dependency of automobiles.

    • Aggressively rehabilitate degraded landscapes
    • Minimize automobile dependency
    • Use an integrated waste management system
    • Dispose waste disposal sites and take particular care with toxic waste
