Week 4 Giving Expanded Definition of Words

The document discusses expanded definitions. It defines expanded definition as providing additional context beyond a basic definition, such as describing etymology, sensory characteristics, parts, use, exclusions, examples, and similarities/differences to other words. An example paragraph demonstrates how a definition is expanded through numbered statements. Techniques for expanded definitions include asking questions about how something works, its parts, functions, comparisons, use, origins, and background. Developing expanded definitions requires considering a concept's features, characteristics, and parts to adequately define it.
