Chapter 1
1.1 Background of the Study
• A lot of modern technologies are now widely available for
people to use. Even the most basic things are being done
much more efficiently with the help of these technologies.
With the time marching towards a modernized future, it is
ideal to have things that feature futuristic attributes.
1.2 Objectives of the Study
1.2.1 General Objective
The main objective of this study is to develop a device
which is an automatic gate sensor with gate pass to enable
a gate to safely open and close for convenience and added
security of the place as well.
1.2 Objectives of the Study
1.2.2 Specific Objectives
The following are the specific objectives that the
researchers want to achieve:
•To build a sensor that will only open if the vehicle or
person carries the gate pass.
•To ensure that the user will feel convenient going home
by not having to manually open the gate.
•To control access into a secured area.
•To provide security to the homeowners by having the
system to create a sound if an unrecognized vehicle has
attempted to enter the gate.
1.2 Objectives of the Study
1.2.2 Specific Objectives
• To create and keep a list of cardholders as well as provide
time log for cardholders who enters the gate.
1.3 Scope and Limitation
Scope
The study is focused on building a device that will not only be convenient but
also secured by adding a gate pass to the system. Firstly, the convenience, the gate
will open automatically if the card is registered. Secondly, the security, gate will not
open if it does not recognize the person trying to enter the gate. Third, a buzzer will
make a noise whenever an unauthorized person is trying to enter the gate. By
utilizing the use of RFID, human intervention will be reduced as opening the gate
will not require human force to have the gate opened. This does not only provide
convenience but it also enhances security.
Limitation
The study is limited to homeowners that has their own
driveway. The system also does not have a button to
manually rotate or move the gate by the user’s will as it is
an automatic gate.
1.4 Significance of the study
This study entitled "An Automatic Gate Sensor with Gate Pass" is
significant for several reasons:
• Home Owners - The study will greatly benefit home owners as
they will experience modern technology that provides
convenience and security.
• Researchers - The researchers will acquire vast knowledge
from this study and help them in becoming IT professionals.
• Future Researchers – The data that can be gathered from this
study will surely help future researchers by using this study as
their basis or blueprint to create a system of their own.

As per Timothy M. Amado (2018). Environmental health has
improved over time, and security have gone unnoticed. One of the
most pressing issues nowadays is air pollution. However, reliable
sensor values are required for AQI and difficult calculation to obtain.
According to Jay Ar L. Dultiao and Arsenia V. Duldulao (2019).
Using an RFID-based Attendance Monitoring System, attendance
records for students are managed. After the system is put into place,
faculty members should benefit since it will be simpler to track
students' attendance, which will enhance instruction and student
results.
In accordance with Patrick Anthony Roca (2019). Based on this
concept, the researchers decided to design, construct, and test a

As S Syahid et al (2021). The study "Double Security system with
RFID and password based on Arduino Mega 2560 and PLC“As the
title suggests, the device does not only use RFID as its security
feature, it also includes a security code which makes the device a
two-tier security system. The RFID tag used in the ID are cards that
are embedded with its own unique codes used as personal
identification.
According to Hemlata, Chirayu, Sujata and Neil (2018). The study “Smart
Gate” strives to introduce the Digital and automated world to people by creating
this study and bringing a smart gate in life. The study also pursues that it will be
convenient if IoT and human effort are combined, meaning that instead of
actually putting force in order to open the gate it will only take a few buttons to
actually do it.
As mentioned by Shashikant, Payal and Mansi (2019). The study “ Automatic
Door Opening System” owning your own reliable security system will help you
protect your assets. This study will eliminate the use of the traditional keys to
access through the door, integrating RFID and facial recognition will further
enhance the home security as the device will capture a photo whenever the
doorbell is pressed and will be saved in the device’s own database.

as it removes human intervention as it will get rid of manual gate ensuring human
safety. The automatic gate works for both human and vehicle entering the gate
within the distance of 0.42m to 0.52m. Based from the gathered results in this
study, it is said that the gate is 90% efficient.
