WATER
ENTRIES
Reported by Karl
Carandang
• To wait bring your legs up
and out to the side and a
circular motion. Drive your
WADE-IN knees up and carry your feet
over the water in front of
you leading with pointed
toes.
• The slide entry is very
simple. Sit down with your
feet/legs hanging down into
SLIDE-IN
(or above) the water. Use
your hands to slide yourself
into the water.
STEP-IN
• Step in Entry is the
second item to be
taught after slide
in entry. In
Swimsafer Stage
2, students will be
taught about step
in entry.
• An entry into the water
from a height keeping the
COMPACT
JUMP rescue tube up under the
armpits, feet flat, knees
slightly bent.
DIVE
• Wading entry is performed from a
beach or shoreline, and it is the only
method of entry for a shore dive. Don
all your scuba gear except your fins
and wade out to deeper water by
walking backwards.
• A stride entry is typically
used during a rescue when
the rescuer needs to watch
STRIDE
ENTRY the person in difficulty and
entry is made from a low
height into water known to
be free from obstacles.
