Smart Solar Panel Cleaner 1

The document describes a proposed smart solar panel cleaning system. The system uses sensors and actuators controlled by an Arduino microcontroller to autonomously clean solar panels. It uses a combination of spraying with water and brushing to remove dirt and debris. The system is designed to maintain the efficiency and longevity of solar panels by keeping them clean without much human intervention or maintenance. Regular cleaning can improve energy output and optimize solar panel performance.

Methodology

The system used for the Project is composed of various

delicate components. Every component used in the system
performs a specific function and contributes to make a
complete system. It consists of Arduino, motor drivers, DC
motors, brushes, etc.
Components

• UltraSonic Sensor
• Arudino UNO
• Battery
• Motor Drive Unit
• Speed Controlled DC motor
• Brush Unit
• High Pressure Pump
• Water Tank
Methodology(Components)
• Ultrasonic Sensor

An ultrasonic sensor is an electronic device that

measures the distance of a target object by emitting
ultrasonic sound waves, and converts the reflected sound
into an electrical signal

• Arudino UNO

Arduino Uno is an open-source microcontroller board

based on the processor ATmega328P. There are 14
digital I/O pins, 6 analog inputs, a USB connection, a
power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. It
contains all the necessary modules needed to support
the microcontroller
• Battery

A type of electrical battery which can be charged,

discharged into a load, and recharged many times

• Motor Drive Unit

The L293D is a 16-pin Motor Driver IC which
can control a set of two DC motors
simultaneously in any direction. The L293D is
designed to provide bidirectional drive currents
of up to 600 mA (per channel) at voltages from
4.5 V to 36 V.
• Brush Unit

A Tool which is used to remove dirt and dust by

sweeping

• Pressure Pump

The function of a pressure pump is to push

water at a faster rate and a higher pressure for
spraying purpose
• Gear Motor
A gear motor is a motor designed with an integrated
gearbox. Gear motors function as torque multipliers and
speed reducers thus requiring less power to move a
given load

• Water Tank

Water Tank is a Storage Vessel for water used for the

purpose of cleaning

Advantages

• Increses Energy Production

• Hardly any Maintainence

• Protects Manufacturer Warranty

• No Personal Injury Risk

• Completely Green
Disadvantages

• Requires Plenty of Water

• Rollers and Wipers should be changed frequently

according to the environment conditions

• Require Frequent Maintainence

• Requires Power Source for Running

Applications

• Used to maintain the efficiency of solar panels

• Automated solar panel cleaning systems can be used in
various applications such as Commercial and Industrial
Purposes
• The efficiency of solar panels decreases when they are
covered with dust, dirt, and other pollutants. Automated
cleaning systems help to remove these pollutants and
maintain the efficiency of the panels.
Conclusion

Solar Panel Cleaners are essential tool for maintaining

the Efficiency and Longevity of the solar panels. They help
remove dirt, dust and other debris that accumulate on the
panels, allowing them to absorb more sunlight and produce
more energy. Regular Cleaning of Solar Panels can help
save money on energy costs and increase the overall
performance of the solarpanels.
