This document describes an automatic solar street light system with fault detection and display using Arduino. The system aims to save electricity by only powering street lights when needed using a solar panel, IR sensor, LDR sensor, LED lights, and LCD display connected to an Arduino board. It detects faults in lights and displays them. This provides efficient, automatic, and smart street lighting using renewable energy with energy savings and a longer lifespan compared to traditional street lighting systems.

ABSTRACT
• Streetlight is an important feature of any city since it improves night vision
and makes roadways safer. However, it consumes a significant amount of
electricity.
• In the manual system the streetlights are powered for a set period of time
with maximum intensity even when there’s adequate light available.
• This wastage of electricity can be avoided by extinguishing the lights
automatically and controlling the intensity of the light.
• The saved energy can be productively used for different purpose like
transportation, commercial, residential
• So, the manual fault detection takes longer time to detect the fault and
further rectification.
OBJECTIVE
• The main objective of this project is to save the electricity. Now a
days, there are many issues regarding the electricity in rural areas.
• Since the power consumption is high in metropolitan cities and
industries, there is no efficient electricity to provide in the rural areas.
• At present, electricity is generating by using the water. Since there is
no sufficient amount of water, we are unable to meet the electricity
needs of all the people

SOLAR PANNEL

• Solar panels are those devices which are used to absorb the sun's rays
and convert them into electricity or heat.
• A solar panel is a collection of solar cells.
• Lots of small solar cells spread over a large area can work together to
provide enough power to be useful.
• The more light that hits a cell the more electricity it produces.
IR SENSOR
• An IR sensor, also known as an infrared sensor, is an electronic device
that can detect infrared radiation in its surrounding environment.
• IR sensors work by detecting the heat or thermal energy that is
emitted by objects and converting it into electrical signals
• IR sensors are widely used in a variety of applications such as
temperature sensing, motion detection, and remote control systems.
Arduino
• Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use
hardware and software.
• Arduino boards are able to read inputs - light on a sensor, a finger on
a button.
• The ATmega328P microcontroller is used in the Arduino Uno
microcontroller module (datasheet).
LDR
• Light dependent resistors, LDRs or photo-resistors are electronic
components that are often used in electronic circuit.
• LDR are specifically designed for their light sensitivity and the change
in resistance this causes.
• These electronic components can be described by a variety of names
from light dependent resistor, LDR, photo resistor, or even photo cell,
photocell or photoconductor.
LED
• Light-emitting diode (LED) is a widely used standard source of light in
electrical equipment.
• It has a wide range of applications ranging from your mobile phone to
large advertising billboards.
• They mostly find applications in devices that show the time and
display different types of data.
CONNECTING WIRES
• A connecting wire allows travels the electric current from one point to
another point without resistivity.
• Resistance of connecting wire should always be near zero.
• Copper wires have low resistance and are therefore suitable for low
resistance.
LCD DISPLAY
• An LCD display, or Liquid Crystal Display, is a type of flat panel display
commonly used in electronic devices such as televisions,
smartphones, and computers.
• It is a technology that uses liquid crystals to produce images on a
screen.
• The liquid crystals act as a shutter that allows or blocks light passing
through them, creating images on the screen.
Hardware
ADVANTAGE
• To avoid unnecessary Waste of light.
• Provide efficient, automatic, and smart lighting system.
• Totally based on Renewable energy sources.
• Longer life expectancy.
• Energy Saving
CONCLUSION
• Hence, an enormous amount of solar energy is utilised to generate
electricity in our project. We can save this energy to our future
generations.
• We can use the energy generated by the Solar panel for domestic
purposes
• Remote monitoring helps to find the defected street light and it helps
to reduce the manpower. By using the dimming effect, we can save
power when compared with the previous system
