CRDI SYSTEM
 What is CRDI system?
Ans: CRDI or Common Rail Direct Injection
System is used in diesel engines for better
performance and efficiency. The concept of
Common Rail Injection first began in Japan in
the mid 1990’s under the Denso Corp. After
extensive research by the FIAT group, the final
design was acquired by the German group Bosch
for mass production
COMPONENTS

CRDI SYSTEM
HOW IT WORKS?
In CRDI, the fuel system components are
more intelligent which are controlled electrically.
The traditional injectors are replaced with
advanced electrically operated solenoid
injectors. Injectors are opened with an ECU
(Engine control unit) signal depending upon the
variables such as engine speed, load, engine
temperature etc.
ADVANTAGES :
1. The system arrangement is simple and less
maintenance cost.
2. Only one pump is sufficient for multi-cylinder engine.
Disadvantages :
3. There is a tendency to develop leaks in the injection
valve.
4. Very accurate design and workmanship are required.
MPFI SYSTEM

The MPFI is a system or method of

injecting fuel into internal combustion
engine through multi ports situated on
intake valve of each cylinder. It delivers
an exact quantity of fuel in each cylinder
at the right time. There are three types of
MPFI systems – Batched, Simultaneous
and Sequential .
CONSTRUCTION
HOW IT WORKS?
MPFI includes a fuel pressure regulator, fuel
injectors, cylinders, pressure spring and a control
diaphragm. It uses multiple individual injectors to insert
fuel in each cylinder through intake port situated
upstream of cylinder’s intake value. The fuel pressure
regulator, connected to the fuel rail by means of an inlet
and outlet, directs the flow of the fuel. While the control
diaphragm and pressure spring controls the outlet valve
opening and the amount of fuel that can return. The
pressure in the intake manifold significantly changes
with the engine speed and load
ADVANTAGES:

1. Less maintenance( carburator eliminated )

2. High efficiency
Disadvantages:
3. Misfiring might occur sometimes.
4. It requires regular inspection of fuel injectors.
5. More costlier system.
