Micro Wind

Microwind is a tool for designing and simulating circuits at the layout level. It contains editing features, various views like 2D cross sections and 3D process viewers, and an analog simulator. Feature size refers to the distance between the source and drain in a MOSFET. Design rules are specified in terms of the feature size lambda. A CMOS circuit uses a pull-up PMOS network and a pull-down NMOS network with inputs and an output. The logic for CMOS circuits has PMOS gates in parallel and NMOS gates in series for AND operations, and the opposite for OR operations.

Design Abstraction
MicroWind
• Microwind is a tool for Designing and simulating circuits at layout level.
• Tool contains editing features (cut, paste, copy, move), various views (2D cross
section, MOS characteristics, 3D process viewer) and analog simulator.
Feature Size
• Feature size is a distance between source and drain.
• Here, feature size is called lambda ().
• Design rules are specified in terms of lambda.
• E.x. For 0.18 micrometer process, = 0.18/2 = 0.09
