Networking Devices Media and Connector

SLIDESMANIA
Today we are going to
talk about the
networking devices
media and corrector
SLIDESMANIA
WE WILL TALK ABOUT
THIS FIRST
Network Device:
~ A network device is a mode in the wireless
mesh network. It can transmit and receive
wireless HART data and perform the basic
functions necessary to support network
formation and maintenance. And also network
devices are the devices that are necessary to
build a network and to keep communication

flowing.
Types of Network Devices:
Hub: Is a physical layer networking device which is
used to connect multiple devices in a network.

Switch: Is a device in a computer network that

connects other devices together.
SLIDESMANIA
Types of Network Devices :
Router: Is a device that communicates between the internet and
the devices in your home that connect to the internet.

Bridge: Is a computer networking device that creates a single,

aggregate network from multiple communication works.
SLIDESMANIA
Types of Network Devices :
Gateway: Is a hardware device that acts as a “gate” between two
networks the unidirectional gateways and bidirectional gateways.

Modem: The word “modem is derived from the term “modurator

demodulator”. The essential functions of modem are to modulate an
analog carrier signal to carry digital information; and to
demodulate a similar signal so as to decode the digital information
from the analog carrier signal.
SLIDESMANIA
Types of Network Devices :
Repeater: A repeater is an electronic device that receives a
signal and retransmits it. Repeaters are used to extend
transmissions so that the signal can cover longer distances or be
received on the other side of an obstruction.

Wireless access point: A wireless access point, or more generally

just access point, is a networking hardware device that allows
other Wi-Fi devices to connect to a wired network.
SLIDESMANIA
Media
~ Network media refers to the communication channels used to interconnect nodes on a
computer network. Typical examples of network media include copper coaxial cable,
copper twisted pair cables and optical fiber cables and optical fiber cables used in wired
networks, and radio waves used in wireless data communications networks.

The three types of network media:

Twister pair cables: Is a type of wiring in which two conductors of a single circuit are
twisted together for the purposes of improving electromagnetic.
SLIDESMANIA
Coaxial Cable: A type of cable that has an inner conductor surrounded by an
insulating layer, surrounded by conductive shielding.

Many also have an insulating outer jacket the diagram below illustrates the
construction of a typical cable.

Electric signal: flows through the center conductor.

Optical fiber cables: Is an assembly similar to an electrical cable, but

containing one or more optical fibers that are used to carry light.
SLIDESMANIA
Connectors:

A device that terminates a segment of cabling or provides a

points of entry for networking devices such as computers, hubs,
and routers. Connectors can be distinguished according to their
physical appearance and mating properties, such as jacks and
plugs (male connectors) or sockets and ports (female
connectors).
SLIDESMANIA
In addition, connectors are distinguished by the kind of electrical
interfaces they support.

Examples of different types of connectors include:

. .
~Connectors for serial interfaces, such as RS- 232 and V. 35
~Ethernet connectors, such as RJ-45 and BNC connectors
~Fiber-optic cabling connectors, such as SC and ST connectors

There are literally dozens type of connectors used in networking,

and the networking professional needs to be familiar with many of
them. The illustration shows some of the common connector types
used in different aspects of networking and telecommunications.
