INVESTIGATION PHASE - 60 days

This Field Training Officer’s Guide on Investigation Phase is a


compilation of lessons and topics to be presented and taught by
the FTO to the Police Trainees (PTs) as they pass through the
second phase of the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course under
the Field Training Program.

PTs will be exposed to different scenarios through simulation


exercises, table top exercises and even actual experiences in the
field in order to reinforce their knowledge and develop their skills.
Through this way, we will produce better PTs who are more
effective, credible and capable police officers in the field of
investigation.

The next eight (8) weeks in the Field


Training Program is devoted to the
Investigation Phase with eight (8) modules
which has been exceptionally designed for
the Field Training Officers to be clearly
taught to the PTs.

Module I: Orientation and Familiarization


Number of training hours is 8 (Lecture: 1Hr / PE: 7Hours)

Module II: Police Blotter and Incident Report Form


Number of training hours is 4 (Lecture: 2Hrs / PE: 2Hrs)

Module III: Police Report Writing


Number of training hour is 4 (Lecture: 1Hr / PE: 3Hours)

Module IV: Basic Knowledge on Laws under the Revise Penal


Code, Special Laws and Rules on Criminal Procedures
Number of training hours is 16 (Lecture: 16Hrs / PE: 0Hr)

Number of training hour is 4 (Lecture: 1Hr / PE 3Hrs)

Module VII: Court Decorum and Observation


Number of training hour is 17 (Lecture: 1Hr / PE: 16Hrs)

Module VIII: Barangay Justice System


Number of training hour is 41 (Lecture: 1Hr / PE: 40Hrs)

Module IX - Case Scenario


Number of training hour is 278 (Lecture: 0Hr / PE: 278)

PATROL PHASE -85 days

 Patrol is considered the backbone of police activities in the


preservation of peace and order.

 They either move by foot or in motor vehicles in crime


prone areas within their respective beats to look for and
apprehend criminals or to respond to citizens under threat
or those calling for assistance.

 Most often, Police Officers must be visible to the public, to


let them know that they are ready to help secure the
neighborhood. In conducting patrols, the officers
intermingle and work with the general populace.

The following eight (8) weeks in the Field


Training Program (FTP) comprise the Patrol
Phase having five (5) modules.

Module I - Orientation and Familiarization


Number of Training Hours: 32 hours (Lecture-12hrs / PE-20hrs)

Module II – Patrol
Number of Training Hours: 128 hours (Lecture-16hrs / PE-112hrs)

Module III - Basic Laws and PNP Regulations


Number of Training Hours: 16 hours (Lecture-2hrs / PE-14 hours)

Module IV - Police Assistance


Number of Training Hours: 96 hours (Lecture-12hrs / PE-84hrs)

Module V - Police Community Relation


Number of Training Hours: 48 Hours (Lecture-6hrs /PE-42)

TRAFFIC - 30 days

 The Traffic Phase deals with the concepts of traffic, its goals, objectives,
and processes. It also deals with traffic safety education, basic and
common traffic enforcer actions. It further identifies the collective
impression of PTs on traffic when they join the organization as police
officers.

 The PTs will gradually acquire knowledge and skills necessary to perform
as able police officers.The goal is to develop the PTs to become effective,
credible and experienced police officers with the highest caliber of public
service.

 Traffic is a complex system which targets the movement or flow of vehicles,


pedestrians, and goods from point of origin to destination. The Traffic
Phase will equip the PTs with knowledge, understanding and skills to
address any setbacks and provide innovative traffic management services
for a more coordinated, better and safer community.

The Traffic Phase will be conducted for a


period of four (4) weeks with eight (8)
modules. It was designed for FTOs to
effectively teach the PTs.

Number of training hours: Eight (8) (Lecture-1hr / PE-7hrs)

Module II - Basic Traffic Laws, Rules & Regulations, Memoranda,


Ordinances & Issuances
Number of training hours: Sixteen (16) (Lecture-4Hrs / PE-12hrs)

Module III - Traffic Intersection Conflicts, Signs and Symbols


Number of training hours: Sixteen (16) (Lecture-4Hrs / PE-12hrs)

Module IV - Traffic Direction and Control


Number of training hours: Twenty Four (24) (Lecture-4Hrs / PE-20hrs)
