Aim: To Determine Curie Temperature and Energy Loss of Ferromagnetic Material

This document outlines an experiment to determine the Curie temperature and energy loss of a ferromagnetic material. The apparatus used includes a Curie temperature kit, ferromagnetic coil, resistance, capacitor, and CRO. The formula provided calculates energy loss based on properties of the primary and secondary coils, resistances, capacitor, and hysteresis loop area. Key magnetic concepts discussed are hysteresis loops, ferromagnetism, Curie temperature, retentivity, coercivity, and saturation. Observations were made of temperature, sweep area, and loop area while resistance, coil dimensions, and other factors remained constant according to the manual. The results will state the measured energy loss and Curie temperature.

Apparatus :

Resistance – 2
C.R.O.
{in-build}
Curie temperature
kit Wire Capacitor – 1
{in-build}

Ferromagnetic material coil

Formula for finding energy loss :

energy loss = N1/N2 * R2/R1 * C/A.L*Sv*Sh*A(loop)

Where ,
• N1 And N2 be the primary and secondary coil of ferrite material.
• R2 be the 200 ohm resistance which is in-build in kit.
• R1 be the variable resistance {5 ohm,15 ohm,50 ohm}
• C is the capacitor.
• A is the area of ferromagnetic iron core.
• L be the length of core.
• Sv,Sh be the area of horizontal and vertical area of loop.
• A(loop) be the area of Hysteresis loop
Theory :
Hysteresis loop

• is a four-quadrant graph that shows the relationship between the

induced magnetic flux density B and the magnetizing force H.

Ferromagnetic Material
• those materials which exhibit a spontaneous net magnetization at
the atomic level, even in the absence of an external magnetic field .

Curie temperature
• temperature at which certain magnetic materials undergo a sharp
change in their magnetic properties.
Retentivity
The amount of magnetization present when the external magnetizing field is
removed.

Coercivity
The amount of reverse(-ve H) external magnetizing field required to completely
demagnetize the substance.
saturation

The maximum magnetization of a material.

Observation :
Temperature. Sv . Area of loop.

Constant : dimeter of core, Sh, Resistance, capacitor, N1 and N2, Thickness

This constant are given in manual, which comes form experimental kit
Result :
The energy loss of ferrite material ……..
The curie temperature …………
