V = 2009.6 dm³
H. Solve each of the following problems.
1. Find the total surface and volume of a cube of side equal to a. 8 cm b. 15 dm c. 20 cm.
a. SA = 6x8-384 cm³ b. SA = 6 x 15² = 1350 dm³ c. SA= 6 x 20² = 2400 cm²
V = 8³ = 512 cm³ V = 15³ = 3375 dm³ V= 20³ = 8000 cm³

2. A rice granary is 3 m by 3 m by 2 m. If one sack of palay is 75 dm3, how many sacks of

palay does the granary contain? 18000/75 = 240.

3. A garden is 20 m long and 15 m wide. How many cubic meters of soil will be needed to
raise the surface of the soil 15 cm higher? needs 300 x.15 45 m² of soil.

4. The volume of a cube is 729 cm3. How long is an edge of the cube? What is the total
surface area? length of edge = cube root of 729 = 9 cm. SA = 6 x 9 x9=486 cm².

9. How many 5 cm square tiles are needed to tile a bathroom 3 m by 2.5 m?

3000 tiles are needed.

10. A circle of radius 7 cm is drawn and cut from a square piece of cartolina of side 14 cm?
The amount of cartolina wasted is 42 cm²
Challenge!
1. A vendor bought two sacks of potatoes each weighing 35 kilos. When all were sold at the end of
two months, she found that the total number of kilos of potatoes sold was 10% less than what she
bought.
a. How many kilos of potatoes did she sell?
She sold 0.9 x 70 = 63 kg.
b. If she bought the potatoes at Php23.50 a kilo and sold them at Php34.50 a kilo, how much did she
loss or gain?
From selling, she got 63 x P34.50 P2173.50. She gained P(2173.50-1645) = P528.50.
2. If you have 84 meters of fencing material, how many different gardens can you fence with it if the
length and width are both whole numbers and neither is less than 13 m?
17 different gardens
3. How many posts 2 m apart are needed to fence a rectangular yard 20 m by 12 m?
only 5 are needed in all, 22 + 10 posts are needed.
4. A certain sum of money is enough to pay 10 men for 12 days? How long would the same sum of
money be enough to pay 15 men at the same rate?
A sum of money enough to pay 10 men for 12 days would be enough to pay one man for 120
days. So, it will be enough to pay 15 men for 120/15= 8 days.
5. A book 24 cm by 17 cm by 2.5 cm. If a box is 5 dm by 3.5 dm by 2 dm internal dimension, how
