about scotland 
1. Whisky distilleries - A distillery is a place where whisky
or a similar strong alcoholic drink is made by
a process of distilling (The Macallan, Speyside). 

2. The Great Highland Bagpipes - is a type


of bagpipe native to Scotland, and the Scottish analogue
to the Great Irish Warpipes. It has acquired widespread
recognition through its usage in the British military.

3. Haggis - is a savoury pudding containing sheep's pluck,


minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed
with stock, and cooked while traditionally encased in the
animal's stomach.

4. The Kelpies - are 30-metre-high horse-head sculptures


depicting kelpies, located between Falkirk and
Grangemouth, standing next to a new extension to the
Forth and Clyde Canal, and near River Carron.

5. Tartan kilts - a piece of tartan, worn around the waist,


however, a "proper" kilt is usually accompanied by: A
sporran - a small bag worn around the waist, over the
kilt.

famous castles
• Glamis Castle - Glamis Castle is situated beside the village of Glamis
in Angus, Scotland. Glamis Castle has been the home of the Lyon
family since the 14th century, though the present building dates largely
from the 17th century.
• Striling castle - Stirling Castle, located in Stirling, is one of the largest
and most important castles in Scotland, both historically and
architecturally. What makes Stirling Castle so special is that it was
once a royal residence for Scottish Kings and Queens before
Scotland's union with England.
• Dunnottar Castle -Dunnottar Castle is a ruined medieval fortress
located upon a rocky headland on the north-eastern coast of Scotland,
about 2 miles south of Stonehaven. The surviving buildings are largely
of the 15th and 16th centuries, but the site is believed to have been
fortified in the Early Middle Ages.
National animal and

to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. It is often
described as large, long-necked, and with one or more humps
