Week 6 Math Q1

This document provides a lesson on dividing 3-4 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers with or without remainders. It includes objectives, standards, examples, steps to solve problems, practice problems, and an assessment. The key points are dividing partial dividends, writing quotients in the correct place, and bringing down remaining digits to continue dividing until there is no remainder. Practice problems are provided to reinforce the process.

LESSON 16

Dividing 3- to 4- Digit
Numbers by 1 digit
Numbers without and
with remainder
(M4NS-If-54.3)
Objectives:
Divide 3- to 4- Digit Numbers by 1 digit
Numbers without remainder.
 Find the quotient of the number given.
Appreciate the kindness of others in
emergency situations.
Setting of Standards

The answer in
division is____
quotient
Motivation:
 Did you ever experienced any
calamities in your life?

 What did you do during

those time?
 How will you handle any
emergency situations?
Presentation:
The Municipal Mayor of Sto.
Tomas received a donation of 791
kilograms of rice distributed
equally to 7 barangays affected by
typhoon Pablo. How many
kilograms of rice did each
barangay receive?
 Who donated rice that distributed to the
barangays?
 How many kilos of rice did the mayor received
from donations?
 How many barangays affected by the typhoon
Pablo?
 Did you received some donations in case of
emergency situations?
 What was the feelings when you received such
donations?
What does the problem ask for? How do we
solve the problem?
Performing the Activity:
Group the pupils in to 3 groups. Let them answer the guided questions
earlier and solve the problem by providing them the steps in answering
the problem.
STEP 1
*Divide the first partial dividend by the divisor.
*Write the quotient above the hundreds place.

*Multiply the quotient by the divisor.

*Write the product under hundreds place

*subtract the number

*Write 0 under hundreds place
STEP 2
*Bring down the number in tens place.
*Divide the new dividend by the divisor.
*Write the quotient above the tens place.
*Multiply the quotient by the divisor.
*Write the product under the tens place.
*Subtract the number.

STEP 3
*Bring down the number in ones place.
*Divide the new dividend by the divisor.
*Write the quotient above the ones place.
*Multiply the quotient by the divisor.
*Write the product under the ones place.
*Subtract the number.
*If the answer is 0, then you‘ve got your answer above.
Performing the Activity:

STEP 1
*Divide the first partial dividend(7 hundreds)by the divisor.
7÷7=1 1
*Write the quotient 1 above the hundreds place.
7 791
*Multiply the quotient 1 by the divisor 7. - 7
1x7=7
*Write the product 7 under 7 hundred 0
*subtract 7 from 7
7-7=0
*Write 0 under hundreds place
STEP 2
11 *Bring down the number in tens place.
*Divide the new dividend by the divisor.
7 791
*Write the quotient above the tens place.
- 7
09 *Multiply the quotient by the divisor.
- 7 *Write the product under the tens place.
*Subtract the number.

113 STEP 3
*Bring down the number in ones place.
7 791 *Divide the new dividend by the divisor.
- 7 *Write the quotient above the ones place.
09
- *Multiply the quotient by the divisor.
7
*Write the product under the ones place.
21 *Subtract the number.
- *If the answer is 0, then you‘ve got your answer above.
21

The answer is 113.
Analysis
How did you find the activity?

How did you get the quotient of a 3-digit

number divided by 1-digit number?

Did you work cooperatively with your team

during the activity?
The Rotary Club of Tagum City distributed 7637
packages of groceries for families in some barangays.
Each barangay recieved 7 packages. How many
barangays were served?

How will you solve for the answer, you divide:

7637 ÷ 7 ?
109 1
Step1
 Determine the first partial dividend that can
be divided by 7

7_7637  Divide : 7÷7=1

7_
 Write 1 above 7
 Multiply: 1X7 = 7

_ 6
 Subtract: 7-7 =0
Step 2

0_  Bring down hundred digit :6

 Repeat step 1 until there is no more digit

_63
to bring down
 Divide: 6 ÷ 7= 0
 Multiply: 0 x 7 = 0

6 3_  Subtract 6– 0 = 6

Step 3

_ 7  Bring down tens digit: 3

 Repeat step 2

Abstraction
How do you divide 3-to 4-digit numbers by 1-digit
numbers without and with remainder?

•Divide the first partial dividend by the divisor.

•Write the quotient above the hundreds or tens place.
•Multiply the quotient by the divisor.
•Write the product under the hundreds or tens place
and then subtract.
•Bring down the next digit in the dividend.
•Divide the next partial dividend by the divisor.
•Write the product under the tens or ones place and
then subtract.
• Continue the process until the last partial dividend.
•Write the remainder, if any, in the quotient.
APPLICATION
Solve the following problems:
1. A religious organization donated
378 canned goods for the victims of
typhoon Glenda. If there were 9
families, how many canned goods
did each family receive?
2. There are 1032
Mathematics books
delivered to the library. How
many books will be placed in
one bookshelf if there are 8
bookshelves?
3. Abdul paid Php
1,240 for 8 T- shirts.
How much did each
shirt cost?
Assessment:

Find the quotient:

1) 165 ÷ 5 4) 819÷ 9
2) 763 ÷ 7 5) 3396÷ 3
3) 6426 ÷ 6
Assignment
Give the quotient :
1) 168÷ 8 4) 729÷ 9
2) 246 ÷ 6 5) 8415÷ 5
3) 4328 ÷ 4
