INTRODUCTION

PEDA is State Nodal Agency for Implementation of Renewable

Projects/Schemes in the State. Under this following 03 Programmes of
Biogas/CBG are being implemented in the State.
1. New National Biogas and Organic Manure Progamme. (NNBOMP)
2. Biogas Power Generation (off-grid) Thermal application Programme.
(BPGTP)
3. Waste to Energy Programme.
NNBOMP Scheme

Under this scheme Domestic type Biogas Plants in the range of capacity from 1
cum to 25 cum are taken up .
•Uses of Domestic type Biogas Plants.;-
•Cooking
•Biogas can be used in a specially designed burner for cooking. A biogas plant of
6 cum. capacity is sufficient for providing cooking fuel to a family of 10 to 12
members.
•Lighting:-

Gas lamps can be fueled by biogas. The requirement of gas   for powering a 100
candle lamp (60 W) is 0.13 cum. per hour.

Biogas Power Generation (Off-grid) and Thermal application
Programme (BPGTP)

Objective:-
To promote Decentralized Renewable Energy Source (DRES) of power generation,
specifically in the small capacity range (3 Kw to 250 kw) and thermal energy for
heating/cooling from the biogas produced from Biogas Plants of 30 m3 to 2500 m3 size,
operated based on the availability of required quantity of biodegradable organic waste (s).
Procedure of implementation:-
The proposals of the project under the scheme is developed and prepared as per available
and proposed feeds stocks and requirement of power /thermal load/cooling load and its
handling management at the users end. The proposals are submitted by the designated
Programme implementing agencies (PIAs) of the scheme to the MNRE in the prescribed
format for a principal approval.

Waste to Energy/CBG Programme

Under this programme Generation of Biogas from biomethanation of Urban waste

including segregated MSW/Agricultural Waste/industrial wastes/Effluents or mix of
these wastes.
Components:-
1. Generation of Biogas from Biomethanation of Urban waste including segregated
MSW/Agricultural Waste/Industrial Waste/Effluents or mix of these wastes ; and
2. BioCNG/Enriched Biogas production from Biogas generated.
Central Financial Assistance (CFA)

Procedure of implementation

1. The developers of new/expansion WTE projects including projects based on

MSW intending to avail financial support are required to submit the request of
application form along with enclosers. After getting all statutory clearances to
this Ministry through Financial Institutions =/Banks before COD of the plant for
‘’in principle’’ approval of CFA .
2. A copy of the proposal is also be submitted to the concerned State Nodal
Agency for information
‘’ In-Principle’’ approval
3. A Project Advisory Committee(PAC) for Waste to energy projects constituted
with the approval of Secretary, MNRE under the Chairmanship of Joint Secretary
(In-charge) MNRE evaluate and recommend the project proposals for financial
support. The Ministry issue ‘’in Principle’’ approval with the concurrence of IFD and
approval of Secretary, MNRE subject to fulfilling of all eligibility conditions for grant
of financial support within 45 days from the date of PAC.
