Mindanao bleeding-heart
(Gallicolumba crinigera)
also known as Bartlett's bleeding heart
dove, Barlett's bleeding heart
pigeon and the hair-breasted bleeding
heart, is a species of bird in the pigeon
family. It is endemic to the Philippines on
the islands
of Mindanao, Basilan, Samar, Leyte and
Bohol. It is so named because of a red
blotch on its breast. The generic name
derives from a fusion of
the Latin gallus ("chicken")
and columba ("pigeon").

Mindanao lorikeet or Mount
Apo lorikeet (Saudareos
johnstoniae)
is a species of parrot in the family Psittaculidae.
There are two very similar subspecies, which are
both endemic to Mindanao, Philippines.
Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist
montane forests. It is threatened by habitat loss
and trapping for the illegal wildlife trade. IUCN
estimates the population to be as low as 1,500
individuals with it going locally extinct in areas of
its range.

Paitan
(Barbodes amarus)
known as the pait locally, was a species of
cyprinid fish endemic to Lake Lanao in
Mindanao, the Philippines. This species reached
a length of 10.8 centimetres (4.3 in).[2] It was
first identified from specimens collected from
Lake Lanao in 1910 and 1922, and specimens
were still present as recently as a 1982 survey of
the lake. More recent surveys have failed to find
species, and it is now considered extinct.
