The Timeline and Layers
The Timeline window helps to organize the contents of an Animate CC document. It contents layers for
Organizing the contents on the Stage..

The Timeline shows frames as a series of rectangles in each layer. Every fifth frame has the frame number.
Frames with black dots are key frames. The light red rectangle in the header, with a red frame and red
Vertical line below it, indicates the playhead.

To Insert a frame or keyframe

Select Insert -> Timeline -> Frame or Keyframe

Insert a Frame F5
Insert a Key frame F6
Understanding Layers
You can rearrange the order of layers to set the order of objects in the movie. You can decide which
objects should appear at the first and which object appear later. You can draw, edit, and animate
Objects In one layer without affecting the objects on another layer Each new movie contains a single
layer by Default.

You can

• Insert a new layer

• Rename a layer

• Change the order of layers

• Delete a layer

• Lock and Unlock layer

• Hide and show layers

Animation with Motion Tweening
Tweening makes it very easy to create animations. In tweened animation, you only specify the first
And the last keyframes. Animate CC automatically fills the fames between the two before you
implement motion tween on an object, you have to convert the object into a symbol.

Create Motion Tweening.

1. Draw any shape any top –right corner of the stage.

2. Convert the shape into a symbol
Select Modify and convert to symbol
Select the type as Graphic
Click ok
3. Select Insert and Motion Tween.
The Layer containing the shape becomes a tween layer and the Timeline shows a span of frames as shaded

4. Now drag the shape to a new position on the stage to the mark the end position of the shape in the animation.
5. Now test the movie by selecting Control-Test
6. Play the movie by selecting Control -> Play.
Animation with Motion Tweening And Shape Tweening
To create motion tweening and shape tweening animations, separately.

Create a new Animate CC document.

1. Rename Layer 1 to rectangle.
2. Click frame 1. Select the Rename tool set fill color to orange, and draw a rectangle. Convert it into a symbol.
3. Select frame 50 in the Timeline and insert a keyframe by selecting Insert-> Timeline->keyframe.
4. Change the color of the rectangle as shown in. Also change the position of the rectangle.
5. Select any frame between 1 and 50 . Select Insert- create Classis Tween.
6. Add a new layer by clicking Insert Layer at the bottom of the Timeline. Rename this new layer and give it
the name oval.
Follow the same steps from step-2 But instead of creating Classic Tween Create Shape tweeing.
Save the movie and play the movie by pressing enter.
Using the Onion Skin Feature

The onion skin feature lets you see the relative position of an object over several frames. Turn on the onion

Skin feature by clicking the Onion Skin button at the bottom of the Timeline window.

You can control the number of frames by dragging the start onion skin and End Onion skin Markers in the Timeline.
Using a Masking Layer
You can create special animation effects with the Mask Layer feature. You can think of a mask layer Feature.
You can think of a mask layer as a curtain with a hole in it. The curtain hides the layer behind it, except for the
Title bit you see through the hole.

1. Create a new Animate CC document.

8. To create Motion Tween in the Mask Layer, with the Mask layer selected, click any frame between frames
1 and 50 and choose Insert-> Create Classic tween.
Applying Filters
