Mixed conditional
They mixed two different types of conditionals in one sentence: second and third conditionals
Common combinations
1. Describe the past consequence of a present situation. (It couldn´t happen b/se we can´t change the past) If + past
perfect, would + verb (main clause)
If I had saved more money, I would buy a bigger apartment.
If I had studied architecture, I would have a diploma now.

2. Describe the present consequence of a past situation. (imagin the present was different)
If I weren´t so busy, I would have helped you with your exercises.
If I spoke French, I would have traveled to France last vacation.

3. Describe the future consequence of a past situation.

If Daniela weren´t coming over this weekend, I would have gone with you to Chinauta.
This type of mixed conditional refers to an unreal present situation and its probable (but unreal) past result. These
sentences express a situation which is contrary to reality both in the past and in the present.
