Key point for pipe installation:
Keep copper pipe clean:

Seal the nozzle of the copper pipe before use:

Wrong Wrong
How to store the copper pipes:
The copper pipes will be used soon, the nozzle can be sealed by
plastic material ;
The copper pipes will be stored for a long time : the nozzle must
be sealed by welding, and in the pipe there should be nitrogen.
( 2~5kgf/cm2 )
Connecting method for refrigerant pipe:

1. Welding

2. Flaring connection
The distance between the support of the copper pipe

diameter ( m 6.4~9.5 ≥12.7

m)
distance ( m ) ≤1.2 ≤1.5
Note : when the liquid pipe and gas pipe are hung up together,
calculate according to the diameter of liquid pipe

Record the actual liquid pipe length for future reference when
charging additional refrigerant.
Key point:
Indoor branch joint or outdoor three-way pipe installation

Max. lean: 15 degree

The three-way pipe (T-shape or Y-shape) of outdoor side must be

installed horizontally;
The branch joint of indoor side can be installed horizontally or
vertically.
When installed the branch joint horizontally:

A direction
Wrong

Correct Avoid refrigerant distribution

15°
15° unbalance.
Horizontal
Keep enough distance:
Between two branch joints: ≥1m ;
Between branch joints and indoor unit: ≥0.5m
From the inlet or outlet of branch joint, there should be straight
pipe with length at least 0.5m
Why?
If the distance is not big enough, it maybe cause the
unwanted noise;
Because the distribution of the refrigerant is not well
balanced in this case.

≥500m
m
Too close between two
branch joints!!!
Did not use Midea branch
joints
Bad welding
Sharp bend is too close to
the branch joint
Electric expansion valve kit must
1. Use flare nut connection (Welding is forbidden);
2. be installed vertically

ote: don’t install the EXV in opposite direction.

Requirement of welding

Pressure of the nitrogen: 0.2 kg f/cm2.

Time: all through the welding the process until the copper is fully cooling down

oxide
How to charge nitrogen:
0.2 kg f/cm2
●Purpose: eliminating dust, moisture, and oxides caused by
welding.
Note: the solid can not be eliminated, so pls prevent it enter
the copper pipe.

●Method:
①Flush the pipe with nitrogen of 5.0bar ;
②block all the nozzle of the pipe ;
③use your hand to block one of the nozzle;
④when the hand can not block this nozzle because of the high
pressure, remove the hand ;
⑤repeat the step 3 and 4, deal with each nozzle ;
⑥only when there is no any dust or moisture exist any more, pipe
flushing is finished ;
⑦if not connect the pipe or vacuum for the system, seal all the
nozzle of the pipes 。
Operation sequence:

⑥ ⑤ ④ ③ ①

From far to near (sequence: ① -② -③ -④ -⑤ -⑥ ) 。

Note :
When flushing one pipe, all other pipes need to be
sealed.

When finish the flushing remember sealed all the pipe.

Selection steps:

Condensing water volume I.D(mm) Thickness

(lean 1/100) (L/hr)
V≤14 ¢ 25 3.0
14 < V≤88 ¢ 30 3.5

88 <∽≤ 334 ¢ 40 4.0

175 <∽≤ 334 ¢ 50 4.5

334 <∽ ¢ 80 6.0
Caution : the lean of main drainage pipe must be bigger than 1% ;

Exhaust outlet

≥1 : 100

Condensate pipe

●If the lean can not reach 1/100 , select drainage pipe with bigger diameter ;
●The length of drainage pipe should be as short as possible ;
●The drainage pipe for A/C system should be independent with other water pipe ;
Note: never put the drainage pipe together with some other pipes for dirty water.
Discharge drainage water naturally (without drainage pump)
1. If the pressure at the connection of the drainpipe is negative, it
needs to fix a drainage trap.
2. Every indoor unit needs one drainage trap.
3. A plug should be designed for cleaning in the future.

50mm
plug
50mm

Main drainage
pipe
Discharge drainage water with drainage pump

Increase the height

For easy discharge

 Midea four way cassette type indoor unit has built-in with drainage
pump, the pumping head is 750mm at most ;
 Drainage trap is not necessary when using the drainage pump 。
Note (with drainage pump)

Well fixed for this part

Height can not beyond the pump head of drainage pump

Supporter for drainage water pipe
The distance between each supporter for horizontal pipe
(PVC) should be 0.8~1.0m , to avoid the bending exist ;
Confluence to the main drainage water pipe
To avoid the water flow to the indoor unit, the confluence
should be from the top of the main pipe,
Typical mistake:

Avoid horizontal confluence

Correct way

Correct way :
Typical mistake: 1.There won’t be one water flow contraorbitally.
2.The gradient of 2 water pipe can be adjusted independently.

Wrong way :
1.The way which will disturb the drainage.
2.The drainage water will flow from the bigger water flow pipe
to the smaller one.

Water leakage test

1 ) check leakage at water pipe

After finished installation of drainage pipe, filled the pipe with
water, waiting for 24 hours to check whether there’s any
leakage.

2 ) check leakage from the indoor unit

Charge water from the check hole of indoor unit, ensure the
water can be exhaust smoothly
Purpose: check the gas leakage of the system

Gastight test operation:

Caution:
The gas used must be nitrogen;
Forbidden charging N2 directly to the outdoor unit ball valve.
Sketch map

Note : The gas balance pipe should be checked independently.

Sequence of gastight test by stages :

1st stage 2nd stage 3rd stage

Correcting method in the 3rd stage

If there’s 1℃ difference in temperature, there will be 0.1 Bar difference in

pressure.
Correcting formula:
actual value = pressure when adding (before) +(current temperature – temperature
when adding (before)) x 0.1 Bar
Sequence of adding pressure by stages :

Correcting method in the 3rd stage

For example:

Temp. when charging N2: 24 ℃;

N2 pressure when charging: 38Bar;

Temp. after 24 hours: 22 ℃
N2 pressure after 24hours
= 38Bar + (22 ℃-24 ℃)*0.1 Bar/ ℃
= 38Bar-0.2Bar
= 37.8Bar
If the actual pressure after 24 hours is lower than 37.8 Bar, you need to
check whether there’s leakage or not.
Insulation work – for refrigerant pipe

Purpose:

Caution: Only after the gastight test on the pipe connection and welding part, the
insulation work can be done to the refrigerant pipe;
Insulation work – for refrigerant pipe

Material of insulation:

The heat-resistance temp. should be more than 120℃, ( for liquid pipe, more than
70 ℃ is acceptable.)

Pipe diameter Thickness

Φ6.4~15.9mm ≥15mm
Φ15.9~38.1mm ≥20mm
Φ38.1~54.1mm ≥25mm

The insulation need to be thicker if the ambient is high temp. and humidity
The insulation of liquid pipe and gas pipe must be separate:

The insulation work must be done to every part of the refrigerant

pipes:
Note :
Block the nozzle of the pipe when crossing the insulation material

Wrong Avoid the dust enter the pipe

The insulation material around the pipe should be not too tight
The gap between two parts should be well insulated by additional
insulation material.
Typical mistake :

Broken part not well repaired

No insulation
Result of Non insulation :
Insulation work – for condensing water pipe

The thickness of insulation material for

condensing water pipe is 10 mm.
Purpose : remove the water of the system ;

Necessary tools : Vacuum pump ;

Vacuum degree: -755mmHg or more;  Displacement: 4L/s or more
Operation steps:

Note: All the indoor units which connected to one outdoor system must be

Electric Wiring (2) Power supply

Power supply for indoor unit

Why should all the indoor units which belong to one outdoor unit have same
electricity supply, and it is forbid to pull out the electricity plug (if there is) of any
one of indoor unit independently?

System is normally running-> one indoor unit loss electricity (plug out or power
supply failure)->this indoor unit stop, but indoor expansion valve will keep former
opening degree, it can’t closed-> the other indoor units and outdoor unit are still
running->refrigerant will keep flowing into the stopped indoor unit->so this unit’s
evaporator will be freezing, because the fan is stopped, ->as well as other indoor
units maybe can’t get enough refrigerant distribution, so the cooling performance
will drop down.
What’s worse, the non-evaporated Liquid Refrigerant will directly return to the ODU,
and cause Liquid Hammer, Damage the Compressor.
