Hydraulic Circuits

Regenerative circuit
• By regenerative circuit, we can increase the speed of the cylinder at the cost of
reduction in force developed.
• Speed will be increased from Q/A to Q/a, but the force developed will be
reduced from p x A to p x a.

Where Q = Pump Discharge, q = discharge from rod end

A = Area of Bor, a = area of piston rod.

• Oil coming out from rod end port “R” is made to join with the pump delivery and
to flow to cap end port “C”.

Regenerative circuit by using regenerative type mid-
position 4/3 DCV
(C) Regenerative Circuit by pilot to close check valve
“Fast approach and slow working “ Hydraulic Circuit

• Its have two parts of extension stroke

• Speed of extension during approach is more and during working is less
• Its have two FCV
• F1 -> Q1 and F2 -> Q2
• During Approach Q1 + Q2 = Q
• During Working Q2
• Types:
(a) Position controlled circuit
1) Meter in type
2) Meter Out type
(b) Pressure controlled circuit
1) Meter in type
2) Meter Out type

“Fast approach and slow working “ Hydraulic Circuit

• When the lever of 4/2 DCV is kept in 1st position oil flows from P to A
and B to T
• Sequence valve S is normally open
• Oil flow from F1 and F2 both so piston moves fast and touches
workpiece
• Onve tool touch the work piece, pressure in A-A increases . This cause
the pilot operated check valve to close. Now oil flow only from F2 and
speed of piston reduces.
• This is fast approach and slow workning of cylinder.

Dual Pump hydraulic Circuit

• A combination of two pumps, big pump and small pump, is used in

press circuits in order to save power and avoid over heating of oil.
• Actual punching operation is only for small extension of the piston
equal to the thickness of plate.
• High pressure required only during that much of stroke time
• Remaining extraction and retraction is taking place by big pump only
• Only during small length big pump become unable and high pressure oil
flows from small pump and cylinder perform punching operation.
• Big pump is at work when large quantity of oil is require and small
pump is at work when large pressure is required.
