    VALUES RESTORATION

    PROGRAM
    EXCELLENCE
    EXCELLENCE
     The quality of being outstanding or
    extremely good. It does not mean
    perfection but simply the result of
    pursuing perfection.(By Oxford
    Dictionary)
     As Vince Lombardi said, “Perfection is
    not attainable but if we chase perfection,
    we can catch excellence.”
     From the point of view, excellence is
    being the best in doing something, a
    valuable characteristics that distinct men
    and women possess.
     How can excellence be shown in a society where
    standards are already set and creativity is seldom
    encouraged?
     With the prevailing and widespread corruption in
    the public and private sector, is excellence still
    possible to attain?
     Though temptations surround every personnel in a
    lot of public and private institutions, excellence can
    be achieved if there is a will and desire to attain it. It
    is just a matter of character and attitude.
     As Ralph Marston said, “ Excellence is not a skill. It’s
    an attitude”.
     Confucius also supports the idea. He said, “ The will
    to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your
    full potential….these are the keys that will unlock the
    door to personal excellence.”
     The Civil Service Commission believes the same;
    thus, excellence is identified as one of the core values
    all civil servants must possess.
     We dream of a day when all people, especially the public
    officials and employees as models, live with the highest
    standard of excellence. We dream of a generation who would
    give their best in building the physical and moral
    infrastractures that would last for a lifetime, putting in mind
    the sake of the next generations who will be proud of what
    their forefathers have started. To achieve this, we must put
    into remembrance, “ Whatever we do, let’s work heartily, as
    for the Lord and not for men. Let us not become weary in
    doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if
    we do not give up.
    DECLARATION
     We value excellence being part of our God-given nature.
    From now on, as public servants, we commit to have this
    in mind that as we do beyond what is expected of us
    everyday, we manifest that excellence inside us. We
    endeavor to produce excellent results in whatever we put
    our hands into. We shall not settle for anything less than
    the best but strive to make all things work for God’s
    glory.
    PRAYER
     Lord, forgive us for settling for what is convenient and
    easy, for not giving all that we can to manifest. Your
    excellent nature. Thank you for another chance to live
    excellently from now on. We ask for the grace to make
    excellence our lifestyle and attitude. As we serve the
    Filipino people, help us to always remember that we are
    doing this not for man but for You.
    All these, in God’s Name we pray, Amen.
