Motion

A baseball player throws a ball at a 30 degree angle from a height of 2 meters. The ball travels 10 meters horizontally to pass through a ring 3 meters high. To determine: 1) The initial velocity of the ball when thrown 2) The velocity when passing through the ring The projectile motion equations are used to relate the initial velocity, angle, horizontal and vertical displacements. Setting up and solving the equations gives the initial velocity as 14.14 m/s and velocity through the ring as 12.73 m/s.

A baseball player released a ball by 30 degree at point A and enter the ring at
point B, 10 meter away from the player. The height of the player is 2 m, and the
height of the ring is 3 m. Neglect the size of the ball, determine the magnitude of
velocity of the ball when release by the player and when it passes throught the
basket.
