Course content
UNIT –I Powder Characterization Techniques
Nature of particles, Particle size and Particle size distribution. Sedimentation, and electrical sensing zone methods of
measurement of particle size and particle size distribution. Surface area and porosity and their measurement techniques.
UNIT –II Thermal Analysis
Thermogravimetric (TGA), Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), and Differential Scanning calorimeter (DSC) with suitable
examples of glass and ceramic materials.
This course the information of the characterization of the methods used in the characterization of particle in different
form and there image formation using different technique and instruments.

Solar energy :- Solar radiation and its Measurement; Solar collectors types, solar water heating; Limitations and
application of solar energy for crop drying, Solar ponds, air heating; solar concentrators; Types and usage of
photovoltaic systems; photovoltaic power generation using silicon cell
Wind power :- Principle of energy from wind, wind mill construction and operational details, electricity generation
and mechanical power production.
Tidal power :- Origin of tides, their energy potential, power generation from tides and limitations of tidal energy,
wave energy, power in waves, wave energy technology, principal of ocean thermal energy conversion analysis
Hydrogen energy :-Hydrogen energy system and analysis; Hydrogen infrastructure; Safety, codes and standards,
Hydrogen production by Electrolysis; Thermochemical; Hydrogen from fossil fuel; Hydrogen fuel cells and storage
of Hydrogen.
Biomass energy :-Bio-fuel classification; Combustion; pyrolysis; gasification and other thermo-chemical processes;
