INTRODUCTION
The system is based on open architecture, using industry standard equipment and software.
The open nature of VRS allows the addition of new systems and features, ensuring that the
VRS system can be adapted to keep up with the changing requirements of the airline business.
The VRS suite of software includes the four basic functions of — reservations, flight
inventory, fares and ticketing ticket-less module. The main features or the services provided
in airlines reservation system are:
Reservation and cancellation of the Airline tickets.
Maintain the passengers’ records.
Report about the daily transactions of the Airlines System.
Quick Response to the passengers.
Automation and integration of Airline system functions.
Higher productivity and effective management
Security and protection of confidential data.
Transaction management and routing.
This project on Flight Management System is the automation of registration process of airline
system. The system is able to provide much information like passenger’s details, flight details
and the booking details. The system allows us to add records when a passenger reserves a
ticket. It also allows to delete and update the records based on passenger’s requirements. For
data storage and retrieval we use the MySQL database. It enables us to add any number of
records in our database from the frontend which is Java core. Any changes made in
the frontend will be reflected at the backend.
SCOPE and NEED OF THE SYSTEM-
The name of the software is “AIRLINE RESERVATION SYSTEM”. This software
provides options for viewing different flights available with different timings for a
particular date and provides customers with the facility to book a ticket, modify or
cancel a particular reservation but it does not provide the customers with details of
cost of the ticket and it does not allow the customer to modify a particular part of his
reservation and he/she can modify all his details.
Objective-
A few factors that direct us to develop a new system are given below -:
1)Faster System
2)Accuracy
3)Reliability
4)Informative
5) Reservations and cancellations from anywhere to any place
Electronically handling of flight’s record to enhance the accuracy, flexibility, reliability and
to remove the human’s error. An airline provides air transport services for passengers,
generally with a recognize operating. To provide accurate information about the
addition, deletion and modified record. To provide, efficient, accurate, reliable, fast,
and robust structure that can handle any number of records. The global airline industry
continues to grow rapidly, but consistent and robust profitability is elusive. Measured
by revenue, the industry has doubled over the past decade, from US$369 billion in 2004 to a
projected $746 billion in 2014, according to the International Air Transport Association
(IATA). Much of that growth has been driven by low-cost carriers (LCCs), which now
control some 25 percent of the worldwide market and which have been expanding
rapidly in emerging markets; growth also came from continued gains by carriers in
developed markets, the IATA reported. Yet profit margins are still low, less than 3 percent
overall. In the commercial aviation sector, just about every group in the aviation industry
chain—airports, airplane manufacturers, jet engine makers, travel agents, and service
companies, to name a few—turns a profit. It is seemingly ironic that the airline
companies that actually move passengers from one place to another, the most crucial link in
the chain, struggle to make a profit.
Existing System:
Today’s basic requirement under airline management system are passenger service system and revenue
management system which were not available in existing system. As per cutting throat business
environment, customers and organizations need to be update with each and every aspect. Existing
airline management system control panel was not so advanced which can make frequent updating
by using predefined rules, thus human intervention needed to make information updates every time.
There was no comprehensive management tool, which can help 3 tier management architecture to work
in co-ordination and gain maximum profit. Because of lacking in analysis, cost effective solutions were not
provided to customers, thus not able to make maximum profits.
Proposed System:
It’s the airline management system which has been developed keeping in view to provide complete airline
solutions. To make reservation process easier and easily under stable to customers, flights and the details
will be displayed using dedicated icons which can be easily under stable. As far security is concern,
the transactions and accession will be based on concept of network access thus used advanced API to
make E-Booking system flexible.
It’s the system which
has appropriate distribution channel by which, organization can expand their business region. There are
lot more features have been added to make an effective airline management system and some of
these are: web-based internet booking system, proper authentication and validation to use correct data
and eliminate the costly searching process. More optimized code with latest technologies including
inventory control and payment system to make working process easier.

IMPLEMENTATION
Swings
Swing is a GUI widget toolkit for Java. It is part of Oracle's Java Foundation Classes (JFC) –
an API for providing a graphical user interface (GUI) for Java programs.
Swing provides a look and feel that emulates the look and feel of several platforms, and also
supports a pluggable look and feel that allows applications to have a look and feel unrelated
to the underlying platform. It has more powerful and flexible components than AWT.
In addition to familiar components such as buttons, check boxes and labels, Swing
provides several advanced components such as tabbed panel, scroll panes, trees, tables, and
lists.
CONCLUSION
details and the booking details. The system allows us to add records when a
passenger reserves a ticket. It also allows to delete and update the records based on
passenger’s requirements. This project has guided our path through various aspects of
computer science where developing online application plays a major role.
