Chaayè khana HR policies

and Employee motivation in

wake of national economic
crisis
Introduction
According to Craig Pindar motivation refers to a collection or set of
external and internal forces initiating work oriented behaviour
which determines its form, direction, intensity and duration.
(Matsuo,2019)
Employee motivation is the most significant element in
the organizational success, according to Matsuo,2019
employee dissatisfaction results in crucial losses,
moreover it is also discussed that employee
demotivation is a majorly due to problems with the
higher management, less salary, lack of work life
balance and poor physical conditions in the
workplace. These factors ultimately results in less
motivated employees who are more prone to
absenteeism and ultimately their productivity and
performance is adversely effected.
It is the prime responsibility of HR managers to maintain a positive mood company wide
and work as a mediator between the employees and the upper management. Achieving this
requires a lot of effort but with dedication, every organization can ensure employee
satisfaction.(Miller,2018)
Currently, Pakistan is going through extreme economic crisis which ultimately results in
brain drain and employee demotivation which is ultimately influencing the company
performance negatively.

According to Aljazeera,2023 Pakistan's economic crisis is worsening, with rupee sinking to

record lows against the dollar. "The devaluation in rupee makes the country less attractive
to workers and force Pakistani workers to prefer to work abroad. It will eventually result in
brain drain, which in fact spells demise of Pakistani industry"(The news, 2023)
Research context
According to a research conducted by Al kazlah Badkook The employees'
desire to work in a creative manner is significantly influenced by intrinsic
motivation. Intrinsic motivation, which makes workers feel as though their
work has purpose, is one of the most significant effective roles played by HR
management. Effective HR policies can keep the employees motivated in
wake of the national economic crisis.
Literature review
In order to ensure an organization's
ongoing success and survival,
human resources practices are an
important component of a strategy
for attracting, developing,
motivating, and retaining people.
(Jackson and Schuler,1995)
Wage management plays an important role in employee motivation. It is an important human
resources function as it is helps to meet the objective of the company and provides a balance in
the company. The major objective of wage management is to ensure adequate and fair wage
allocation.(lee et all, 2000)

According to Storey, J.(1992) one of the objective to be considered while fair pricing is to
motivate the employees so that they can perform with higher performance and enthusiasm.
Appraisal and feedback also helps in employee motivation. Merit based
performance and appraisal increase employee's motivation and
commitment that has a significant impact on organizational performance.
(wan et all, 2002)
