Community Resources
INTRODUCTION
• Community resources are social services.
• May be public or private, national/ international as well as local
institutions.
• Institutions such as public schools, parks, libraries and city halls are
all community resources.
• Private institutions such as coffee houses can also be resources for a
community.
• Community resources can play important role for the betterment of
life style as well as the health status of the community people.
Community resources
Definition:
 Community resources can be defined as every components of
community that may be human manpower, capital or financial. For
example: man (human resources), money, materials, timeetc.
 Any agency, company, facility or service in the community that
provides assistance in supported independence.
 A group of services and/or assistance programs that are provided to
the members of a community for free or at an affordable price.
 Each resources is made available to community members to help
them become self reliant and maintain their human rights and well
being.
 Resources that found in community and were helping directly and
indirectly in community development.
Examples of community resources:
• Human resources : community leaders, health or other technical
personnel, FCHVs, school teacher.
• Materials resources : building, compuers, telephone, freeze, budget,
time.
• Community organization : bank, youth club, health post, school.
• International health organizations : multilateral organizations,
bilateral organizations, international non-governmental
organizations.
