Echoes are caused by sound reflecting off hard surfaces with a delay of at least 50ms after the direct sound. There are several acoustic treatments to control echoes, including acoustic rafts that hang from ceilings, baffles that hang vertically, and wall panels made of sound absorbing materials. These treatments help reduce reverberation in enclosed spaces.

CONTROL
ECHOES - An echo is an auditory effect associated with hearing a
repetition of a previous sound, having delay and level proper to be detected as a separate sound event. Echoes are commonly caused by sound reflected from hard, plane surfaces that form sound paths that makes the sound arrive at the receiver at least 50ms after the arrival of direct sound. This delay corresponds to a reflection path that is 17m longer than the direct sound path. ECHO CONTROL ACOUSTIC RAFT • ACOUSTIC RAFTS – Acoustic Rafts hang horizontally from the ceiling to interrupt and absorb sound energy. These are easier to specify because it is hard to find a space that is NOT a good application. Acoustic ceiling rafts are suspended horizontally, come in a variety of styles, sizes, and shapes, can boost ceiling design capabilities, and hide distracting ceiling fixtures. • ACOUSTIC BAFFLES - Acoustic Baffles are similar to rafts but hang vertically from the ceiling. Baffles effectively absorb sound, and most ACOUSTIC BAFFLES importantly, offer better style than a suspended ceiling and can be used to work in a wide range of spaces. • ACOUSTIC WALL PANELS – are generally made up of Acoustic foam, Rockwool or Glasswool, helping in absorbing noise and reducing reverberation in closed rooms. This brings higher clarity to the speech inside the room and ensures the best listening experience. ACOUSTIC WALL PANELS ECHO CONTROL • TREATING THE FLOOR – Area rugs or wall-to-wall carpeting can be a terrific help in treating the floor. TREATING THE FLOOR The floor is typically the largest flat surface in the room, so breaking up that hard expanse with softer materials can do a great deal of echo elimination. • TREATING THE WINDOWS- Acoustical or soundproof curtains are a great solution. Placing a sound-absorbing barrier between the windows and the room prevents the sound waves inside from TREATING THE WINDOWS reflecting and reverberating. • INVESTING IN UPHOLSTERED FURNITURE – the deployment of soft seating across an open plan environment can help alleviate reverberation and give a comfortable break-out or informal meeting area
