It allows individuals to acquire the skills needed for social living. Family members, teachers, religious leaders and peers all act as agents of socialization by transmitting culture to new generations. Socialization plays an important role early in life and is considered the essential link between individuals and the society in which they live, as it is through social interaction that people learn who they are and how to fit into the world around them.
