APPLICATION LETTER
What is an Application Letter?
An application letter is a document that you may submit to hiring managers to show
your interest in working for their company. Typically, an application letter is a
standalone document that gives potential employers a detailed summary of your skills
and experience. The letter contains information about your skills and qualifications that
make you an excellent fit for their workplace.
The letter of application is essentially a sales letter. In it, you are trying to sell your
services and, in most cases, you will be competing with other applicants. Your
immediate objective is to have your letter read by someone in the organization who
has authority to screen job applicants; your ultimate goal is to obtain an interview.
Therefore, your letter must do three things: catch your reader’s attention favorably,
convince your reader that you are qualified for the position, and request an interview.

REQUEST LETTER
What is a Request Letter?
A Request Letter is a formal letter written to request something from an individual, a
company, or an organization. When you are writing a request letter, you are asking
someone to take the time to read your letter, consider your request, and act on that
request. Request letters should be written in a kind, appreciative tone. When you ask
someone to do something for you, make it as easy as you can for them to accomplish
the task. For instance, if requesting donations, include a postage-paid, self-addressed
envelope.
Request letters should clearly state the nature of the request you are making. Appeal
to the recipient’s better nature by stating the importance of the request and the benefits
that their assistance can bring. If you are asking for a referral, offer information about
the position you are hoping to obtain. If you are asking for a transfer to another location,
tell your employer how beneficial the transfer would be, not just for yourself but for the
company. Be clear, professional, and polite.
HOW TO WRITE A REQUEST LETTER?

Explain the reason for the request

Dear Ms. Cynthia,
My name is Yvonne Doe, and I'm the manager at Petty Shelters, the animal shelter you visited last
month. I'm writing to ask whether your pet supply store would like to donate to our animal shelter.
As you know, summer is one of the busiest periods for animal rescue. Our mission is to keep these
animals off the streets and provide everything they need at our shelter. We currently have an
extensive network of volunteers who help us care for animals and would appreciate additional
resources such as financial sponsorship, food, or other pet supplies.
We hope your business can support ours financially and would love to create a long-term partnership
between the two organizations. We would also be happy to recognize you as a sponsor if this
opportunity interests you. Kindly reach me on my phone at 555-454-3434 during regular business
hours or email me at [email protected] for more information.
Sincerely,
Yvonne Doe
