What is VB or Visual Basic?
⮚ Visual Basic (VB) is an event-driven programming
language and environment from Microsoft that
provides a graphical user interface (GUI) which
allows programmers to modify code by simply
dragging and dropping objects and defining their
behavior and appearance.
⮚ Alan Cooper is best known as the “Father of
Visual Basic,” possibly the most widely used
visual programming environment in the software
industry.
⮚ The drag and drop design for creating the user
interface is derived from a prototype form
generator developed by Alan Cooper and his
company called Tripod

⮚ Microsoft contracted with Cooper and his


associates to develop Tripod into a programmable
form system for Windows 3.0.
