• Virtualization is technology that lets you
create useful IT services using resources
that are traditionally bound to hardware.
• Virtualization allows an organization to
create multiple virtual machines – each
with their own operating system (OS) and
applications – on a single physical
machine.

VIRTUAL MACHINE

 Kamoun describes virtual machine (VM) server technology as providing a “technique to run
multiple and isolated virtual servers on a single physical device, thus optimizing hardware usage.”
 Having multiple VMs installed in one server is not the same as having one operating system with
multiple applications installed.
 Each VM behaves as if it were the sole operating system configured in the server.
