SPORTS

BASKETBALL
• Basketball is a game played between
two teams of five players each on a
rectangular court, usually indoors.
Each team tries to score by tossing
the ball through the opponent's
goal, an elevated horizontal hoop
and net called a basket
VOLLEYBALL

usually of six players on a side, in which
the players use their hands to bat a ball
back and forth over a high net, trying to
make the ball touch the court within the
opponents' playing area before it can be
returned.
TENNIS
• Tennis is a game played with two

players (doubles) using tautly strung
rackets to hit a ball of specified size,
weight, and bounce over a net on a
rectangular court.
SOCCER

the object to propel a round ball
into the opponent's goal by kicking
or by hitting it with any part of the

BILLIARD

balls on a table that has no pockets.
BADMINTON

used to volley a shuttlecock over a
high net that divides the court in
half.
ATHLETE

exercises, sports, or games requiring
physical strength, agility, or stamina.
SWIMMING
• the propulsion of the body through
water by combined arm and leg
motions and the natural flotation of
the body.
BASEBALL
• a game played with a bat and ball by
two teams of nine players each on a
field with four bases that mark the
course a runner must take to score.
