What is Epic Tale?

It is a protracted poetic composition focalized


upon a hero who has achieved many great
triumphs in his life.
It is a literacy work about a hero, amazing
adventures or an otherwise intense or amazing
story.
A narrative poem tells a story of great
civilizations and heroes.
Characteristics of Epics:

 formal style
Brave heroes
Supernatural elements
Journeys
 third-person narrator
Long in length
Some of the greatest epics examples come from ancient Greece.
Example of Epic literature:

Homer’s Iliad and


Odyssey
Relevance to the children:
Develop in the child good moral character.
Enlarge the child’s vocabulary.
Develop the imagination.
Contains the principles and lesson which are taught to the
children in our country from childhood.
Epic’s heroes become a role models and a hero-
worshiped.
Important values and ethics can be taught to children by way
of storytelling
