WHAT IS BANASTHALI VIDYAPITH ?
• Banasthali is one of the five higher education institute in India meant exclusively for
Women.
• Over these seventy five years Banasthali has developed into a National Centre for
women's education.
• Banasthali’s educational programme aims at an all-round development of the student's
personality.
HISTORY OF BANASTHALI VIDYAPITH
:
Banasthali Vidyapith was founded on 6 October 1935 by freedom fighters and
educationists Pandit Hiralal Shastri and Smt. Ratan Shastri.
Banasthali Vidyapith (Banasthali University) is a university located in the Tonk district
of the Rajasthan state in India.
The institution was declared as a 'Deemed University' in 1983.While NAAC has re-
accredited Banasthali Vidyapith at the highest possible ‘Grade A’ level in 2011.
HISTORY OF BANASTHALI VIDYAPITH
:
The Vidyapith has had virtual autonomy for its school programs since the beginning and
was affiliated to an outside agency for its university programs in 1983.
In 1983, the government of India, on the advice of the University Grants Commission,
notified the Vidyapith as an institution deemed to be university.
The university is featured in NIRF, QS I Gauge and Times Higher Education rankings. In
2020, NAAC accredited this university with A++ grading.
Characteristics of Banasthali Vidyapith :
Banasthali Vidyapith has the following specialties-
It is an educational institution for girls only and there is a ban
on the admission of boys.
Here the girls have to lead a life of simplicity.
The girl students compulsorily do the work of spinning yarn.
It is necessary to wear Khadi for both teachers and students.
The education here has the potential for all-round development
and it is also free and progressive.
Characteristics of Banasthali Vidyapith :
In this school, education is imparted according to Indian
traditions and ideals.
The girls do their personal household work themselves so that
they do not have to resort to jobs in future and after class all the
girl students also have to help in cooking.
The habit of living a collective life without any discrimination is
inculcated in the hostel and their hostel management is done
with the cooperation of all the girl students.
With a view to the all-round development of the girl child, along
with the subjects of the curriculum, arrangements have been
made for domestic work as well.

SNDT Women's University, also called by its full name Shreemati Nathibai Damodar
Thackersey Women's University, is a women's university in the city of Mumbai,
India.
The university headquarters are at Churchgate in South Mumbai, while the main
campus is at Churchgate there are two other campuses one in Santacruz – Juhu area
of Mumbai and another at Pune.
