Key Word Definition

(1) Environment Materials found in nature – such as oil and trees – many of these are being used by people at
an alarming rate
(2) Natural resources Building and progress that tries to reduce the impact on the natural world for future
generations
(3) Abuse Energy that comes from a source that does not run out, such as wind or the sun

(4) Sustainable The natural world; the surroundings in which someone lives
development
(5) Non-renewable The cutting down of large amounts of forest, usually because of business needs
resources
(6) Deforestation Making something dirty and contaminated, especially the environment

(7) Renewable energy Misuse; of the world and the environment

(8) Pollution Things the Earth provides that will eventually run out as there is a limited amount of them;
examples include oil, coal, gas and other minerals

Take part in initiatives that build natural resources e.g. planting trees
