INTRODUCTION TO DATA ANALYTICS

Data analytics is the science of data,

Data is basically a collection of facts or
information

1
DATA ANALYSIS PHASES

1.Ask : define the problem and confirm stakeholder expectation

2.Prepare : collect and store data for analysis
3.Analyze : use data analysis tool to draw conclusions
4.Share : interpret and communicate result to other to make data driven
decisions
5.Act : put your inside to work in order to solve the original problem
2
LIFE CYCLE OF DATA

Life cycle of data is plan, capture, manage, analyze,

archive and destroy

During planning, a business decides what kind of data it

needs, how it will be managed throughout its life cycle
3
ASK QUESTIONS TO MAKE DATA-DRIVEN
DECISIONS

In analytics, data drives decision making. In this part of the

course, you’ll explore data of all kinds and its impact on
decision making. You’ll also learn how to share your data
through reports and dashboards
4
QUANTATIVE AND QUALITATIVE DATA

Specific and objective measures of numerical facts

Qualitative data describes subjective or explanatory

measures of qualities and characteristics or things that
can't be measured with numerical data
5
PREPARE DATA FOR EXPLORATION

Understanding data type and

structured

6
ALL ABOUT DATABASES
Database is a collection of data stored in a computer system, but
storage is just the beginning

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF KEY

A primary key is an identifier that references a column in which

each value is unique
A foreign key is how one table can be connected to another 7
CREATE OR ENHANCE YOUR ONLINE PRESENCE

LinkedIn is specifically designed to help people make

connections with other people in their field. It's a great way to
follow trends in your industry

8
COMMON CALCULATIONS AND FORMULAS
All formulas begin with an equal sign. We'll type that first, followed by
sum and then an open parenthesis. After the open parenthesis, we need to
tell the formula which cells are being added. In this case, we need data
from the whole row which begins in cell B2. B2 is a cell reference we'll
use. Instead of typing each cell one by one, we can put them in the
formula quickly by selecting cell B2 and dragging the fill handle across
the row to the last cell with sales data, M2.

9
HOW VISUALIZATIONS DIFFER IN TABLEAU

Tableau is an analytics platform that helps data analysts display

and understand data. Most if not all of the charts that you can
create in spreadsheets are available in Tableau. But, Tableau
offers some distinct charts that aren’t available in spreadsheets

10
USE DATA TO DEVELOP STORIES

To create strong communications that make

people think and convince them to take action,
you need data storytelling
