Business Analytics is a set of statistical and operations research techniques, artificial intelligence, information
technology, and management strategies used for framing a business problem, collecting data, and analysing the data
to create value to organizations.

Business Analytics is the process of collecting, sorting, processing, and studying business data. In Business analytics
statistical/machine learning models and iterative methodologies are used to transform data into business insights.

Skills Required for Business Analyst
1. Understand the business objective: It is very important that the Business Analyts understand the business objective that
they are supposed to work towards achieving, before getting started.
2. Analytical and Critical Thinking: BA should be able to analyze and interpret the client's requirement clearly. Critical
thinking involves, evaluating several operations before arriving at the desired solution.
3. Communication & Interpersonal Skills: It is the most important skill for a business analyst. Listening, Reading, and
Writing skills are very critical. BA should be capable of facilitating meetings as well. They must be able to clearly convey
their ideas and results.
4. Negotiation & Cost-Benefit Analysis: Business Analysts are responsible to obtain profitable results for the organization
and at the same time, fix the clients issue as well.
5. Decision Making: BA’s must be proficient in taking crucial decisions for the company. They must have good problem-
solving skills as well.
6. Programming Language: Business Analysts should have a sound programming knowledge for performing better and
faster analysis of data.
7. Creation of Reports and Dashboards: When it comes to creating reports involving big data, business analysts should be
proficient in using various business intelligence tools.
8. Database and SQL: Good understanding of relational databases is important for storing and processing information.
9. Microsoft Excel: The most properly used tool by business analysts for working with data in Microsoft Excel
10. Documentation and Presentation: A business analyst must be able to document and record their project learnings and
results in a concise way.
