INTRODUCTION
• A microgrid is a localized group of generating, storage and loads
coupled to a centralized grid.
LITERATURE SURVEY
1) “DC is the Future”, 2020- The paper aims to summarize the technical
development and problems facing the utilization of AC during wide scale
electrification of the world using numerous DERs.
2) “Risked-Baded Energy Management”,2019- The book defines the
problems and challenges of DC, AC and hybrid microgrids and considers the
right tectics and risked based scheduling to tackle them.
3) “DC Microgrid Design, Control and Analysis”- In this paper a completer
design and analysis of a standalone PV system with DC microgrid is
proposed.
4) “Microgrid architecture control and operation” In Hybrid Renewable
Energy Systems in microgrids, 2018- This paper discussed the challenges of
accommodating small sized renewable sources. AC, DC and hybrid
microgrids are proposed.

Difference Between AC and DC Microgrid
AC Microgrid DC Microgrid
• AC bus is used for • DC bus is used for
interconnection. interconnection.
• Low conversion efficiency • High conversion efficiency
• No inverter is required for • Inverter is required for AC
AC loads loads
• Difficult controllability • Convenient controllability
• Lower initial investment • Higher initial investment
Advantages and disadvantages of DC
microgrid
Advantages Disadvantages
• Increased Efficiency • Unfamiliarity
• No Harmonics • High initial cost
• Fewer Components
• Unavailability of proper
