WAYS IN WHICH BIAS CAN SHOW UP IN THE MEDIA

certain things are reported in the news.
• Advertising bias occurs when stories are selected to
please advertisers
• Concision bias occurs when conciseness determines
which stories are reported and which are ignored

to believe those stories that confirms their views and
ignore everything else

Bias is always present, and it can be found in all outlets
of media. There are so many different types of bias that
are present, whether it is found in is found in the news,
entertainment industry, or in the portrayal of stereotypes
bias, is all around us.

MEDIA OBJECTIVITY

• Objectivity in journalism aims to help the audience make up their

own mind about a story, providing the facts alone and then letting
audiences interpret those on their own.
• To maintain objectivity in journalism, journalists should present the
facts whether or not they like or agree with those facts and not to
share their opinion on a topic and withholding facts of circumstantial
information from the public’s eyes.

20XX 8
PROS AND CONS OF OBJECTIVITY IN
JOURNALISM

• Some pros of objectivity are that it gives people an understanding of

the topic that isn’t bias.
•  Unbiased opinions will help people come up with their own
understanding of a concept instead of believing someone's opinion due
to an unfair or bias influence on them.

• Some cons of objectivity are that not everyone follows the objectivity
rule. Some people just speak their mind without considering how a
person would feel.
•  Like in research, people may put their opinion instead of facts inside
their research which would contaminate the whole research which
would make it invalid.

REASONS WHETHER OBJECTIVE JOURNALISM CAN PREVENT
MEDIA BIAS

• Bias can have a significant influence on the way we as individuals and as a

community respond to troubling events that are complicated by the racial
identities of the people involved.
• All information is not created equal. Just because absolute neutrality or
objectivity is impossible to achieve does not mean that all information is equally
flawed and biased.
• Perceptions of bias are, themselves, highly subjective. Due to confirmation bias,
people commonly perceive opposing biases in the same piece of information.
• Be wary of cynicism and assumptions about the motives of
journalists. Conversations about media bias often devolve into an exchange of
cynical assumptions about “the media.”

CONCLUSION

In Conclusion Media Bias is a way that people online use to

express different situations that suit their need. It has many
types of biases that are used everyday and can be seen
multiple times a day.
