INTRUDUCTION

• Freezing action means transfer of heat from low temperature to a high

temperature body
• Solar fridge works on the principle of thermo electric refrigeration
• It is non conventional type of refrigeration used to produce small
amount of refrigeration
• The working principle is based on peltier effect
REFRIGERATION

What is refrigeration?
Refrigeration is a process in which is done to move heat from one location to another
Where it is uses :
To provide refrigeration for food and medicine preservation
To provide comfort cooling
Solar refrigeration :
Refrigeration which runs on electricity provided by solar energy is known as solar
refrigeration
Solar-powered refrigeration may be most commonly used in the future generation
Developing the world to help mitigate poverty and climate change
TYPES OF REFRIGERATION
• Mechanical Compression Refrigeration System
• Evaporative Cooling
• Absorption Refrigeration
• Thermoelectric Refrigeration
MECHANICAL COMPRESSION REFRIGERATION
SYSTEM
The mechanical compression refrigeration system is the most widely-
used refrigeration cycle method, as it has applications for both air
conditioning and commercial and industrial refrigeration. Usually,
systems like these transfer heat by mechanically compressing refrigerant
into a low-pressure, cold liquid and expanding it into hot, high-pressure
gas.
EVAPORATE COOLING SYSTEM
PRINCIPLE OF SOLAR-BASED REFRIGERATOR

• The process that makes the refrigeration possible is the conversion of

sunlight into DC electrical power, achieved by the PV panel.
• The DC electrical power drives the compressor to circulate refrigerant
through a vapour compression refrigeration loop that extracts heat
from an insulated enclosure.

OBJECTIVES

• Solar-powered refrigerators are able to keep perishable

goods such as meat and dairy cool in hot climates and are
used to keep much-needed vaccines at their appropriate
temperature to avoid spoilage.
BLOCK DIAGRAM
Application

To keep medicines in rural area

Hospitals.
• Small scale industries
ADVANTAGES
No moving parts, hence operation is noiseless.
Simple and fewer parts are required.
Less power consumption.
Maintenance cost is low.
• Easily portable
LIMITATIONS
COP is less as compared to conventional refrigeration system.
In rainy season it cannot be possible to charge battery from solar.
• It also depends on climatic conditions
CONCLUSION

Solar power nowadays is playing a major role in meeting the energy

requirements of our country. It is being developed at a very fast rate and
its applications in many areas are being explored. The fridge is intended
at exploring the same and provides an efficient and economical solution
to the areas where there is no electricity and cooling is required.
