INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS
TECHNOLOGY (ICT)
• Deals with the use of different
communication technologies such to
locate, save, send, and edit information
• Refers to all technology that is used to
handle telecommunication and access
information
• Includes broadcast media, management
systems, and network-based control
• Convergence of several technologies
including internet and wireless
medium.
FAMOUS PERSONALITIES BEHIND THE ICT
• BILL GATES – He introduced Microsoft
• STEVE JOBS – He introduced Apple
• MARK ZUCKERBERG – He pioneered Facebook and
later bought Instagram
• MARTHA LANE FOX – developed last-minute.com.,
an online booking site for airlines, hotels, restaurant
and everything under the sun. Her website relied
heavily on online systems which other websites soon
followed suit.
• TIM BERNERS-LEE – invented the World Wide Web,
an Internet-based hypermedia initiative for global
information sharing.

GENERATION
WEB 1.0: STATIC WEB
• informational sharing.
• Known as “flat page” or “stationary
page”
• connect information
• cannot be manipulated by the user.
• Examples are personal web sites.
WEB 2.0: DYNAMIC WEB
• Interaction.
• Websites that contain dynamic content.
• Connects people.
• Browsers can be used for their user interface,
application software or file storage.
• Examples are social networking sites, blogs,
wikis, etc.

information using freely chosen
keywords (e.g. tagging)

WEB 3.0: SEMANTIC WEB
• Immersion
• Connect knowledge.
• More connected, open and intelligent with semantic
web technologies, distributed databases, natural
language processing, machine learning, machine
reasoning and autonomous agents.
• Examples are semantic blog.
WEB 3.0: SEMANTIC WEB
• It is a movement led by the World Wide Web
Consortium (W3C).
• The term was coined by the inventor, Tim
Berners – Lee. He also noted that the Sematic
Web is a component of Web 3.0.
ISSUES OF WEB 3.0
• COMPATIBILITY. HTML files and current
web browsers could not support Web
3.0
• SECURITY. User’s security is also in
question since the machine is saving
his or her preferences.
• VASTNESS. The World Wide Web
already contains billions of web pages.

• VAGUENESS. Certain words are
imprecise. The words “old” and “small”
would depend on the user.
• LOGIC. Since machine use logic, there
are certain limitations for a computer to
be able to predict what the user is
referring to at a given time.

• At the end of your reflection, challenge 5 of your
friends by tagging them to do the same and tag you at
the end of their post, including 5 of their other friends
to who they pass the challenge of doing the same.
• Let us see the benefits of technology as it comes
from the testaments of the people in the social media.
• Note well that you be graded according to the number
of people you and your friends have challenged.
Assessment
• In your Learning Task 2 and Learning
Task 3 in your Facebook timeline, collect
at least three (from each LT) and write a
narrative reflection for each. Be creative
in presenting your output.
