Ricardo "Ricky" M. De Ungria is a Filipino poet born in 1951 in Luzon but moved to Davao City where he considers his home. He received his BA and MFA degrees cum laude and was awarded a Fulbright scholarship. He has published several poetry collections and anthologies and received many awards including the National Book Award. He was also the first dean of the University of the Philippines Mindanao campus and is currently a UP Artist.

BSBA 2ND YEAR COLLEGE -F Ricardo “Ricky” M. De Ungria Born on 1951 and originally hails from Luzon but moved to Davao City and considered it as his home. FAMILY BACKGROUND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND He graduated with a BA Literature, cum laude, degree from the De La Salle University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Washington University in St. Louis, United States in 1990 when he was awarded a Fulbright grant. He received writing residency fellowships at the Hawthornden Castle International Retreat for Writers in 1991 and the Bellagio Study of Conference Center in 1993. In 1999, he moved to Davao City to become the first dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences of the newly established University of the Philippines Mindanao campus.
