THE PROBLEM OF

HIERARCHY OF VALUES AND

THEIR CHOICE. THE VIEW OF
MAHATMA GANDHI
PRESENTED BY AASTHA SOLANKI

WHAT IS HIERARCHY
◦ A system in which members of an organization or
society are ranked according to relative status or
authority.
Hierarchy of values
◦ It refers to an ordered list of social values that influence judicial decision-making.
◦  Different jurists or legal analysts may order values in different hierarchies, which leads them to decide particular
controversies differently.
◦ . The four-level hierarchy of values ,It includes the level of highest range categories (macrodimensions of values),
the level of higher range categories (value types), the level of middlerange value categories and the level of
specific values.
THE HIERARCHY OF
VALUES
• The hierarchy of values is a range of higher and lower value in which the moral and ideological order of life is
established.
• The order of these values is highly debated and difficult to determine, because to reach a conclusion the
process is subjective because it will depends on personal, group, educational, cultural and social perspectives.
• A large number of values can be ordered in a hierarchy to
demonstrate their importance with respect to others,
where spiritual, intellectual, artistic, moral values, among
others, are involved.
• The values are divided into infrahuman, inframoral,
economic, moral and religious values. To be clearer about
the concept of hierarchy of values it is prudent to define
what a hierarchy is and what is value, by its nature,
characteristics, importance and influence in human life.
• Hierarchy is an organized structure in which important
scales or systems of greater or lesser relevance are
established within the same environment.
• Value is something that has in itself a degree of category,
which influences the human being that gives meaning and
that can be used to decide or justify.
• The value is closely related to the principles and feelings
attitudes that an individual has when it comes to acting.
Characteristic of values
◦ The hierarchy of values will depend on three very important elements:
◦ The person, who is who determines the most important values according
to their needs, interests, aspirations, training, their personal and social
conditions.
◦ A second element are the qualities of value, which has to do with
personal preference.
◦ The third element that influences is the situation in which the person
lives, since it is determinant in the position and preference of its
hierarchy of values.
The following characteristics can be highlighted through these
three elements mentioned above:
 The values have two poles, the positive and the negative as good
and evil
 They have a rank within the world of values ranging from the
lousy to the excellent.
 There is a social, moral and ethical hierarchy.
 Values are in themselves a quality and do not determine a
quantity, i.e. they are not quantifiable.
 They are also flexible because they can change over time
according to the experiences and needs of individuals
 Its durability varies, being some more permanent than others.
Practice Self-Discipline In Investment
Gandhiji lived a life of self-discipline and simplicity. He
had meager possessions and ate simple vegetarian food,
which he called key to a happy and healthy life. Not only
did he practice what he preached, his self discipline made
others follow a similar lifestyle of simple living and high
thinking. Likewise, self-discipline is very important to
achieve financial goals successfully. You should not deviate
from your goals and adhere to your investment rules rather
than followingsyour friends or neighbors.

◦ May you always Be worthy of respect through true word, celibacy, exercise, learning, patriotism
and self-sacrifice. I want every student to inscribe this verse on this heart of theirs and also
conduct it accordingly.
◦ Truth: There is no religion more than truth. Brahmacharya: Who can tell the glory of
Brahmacharya. Exercise: Exercise makes a man powerful. Vidya: What is the importance of
learning? Patriotism: Janani-Janmabhoomi is better than heaven. Self-denial: matters the most.
6 values of madan mohan malvia
◦ Truth There is no religion more than truth, "Satyanasti paro dharma:" Satyameva Jayate, Nanant
"Truth only wins, not falsehood. The reading of Mahabharata, Ramayana and Puranas shows
that many emperors like Raja Harishchandra, Ramchandra, Yudhishthira etc. suffered many
kinds of limitless suffering behind the truth, but did not fall from the truth.
◦ Brahmacharya Who can tell the glory of celibacy? The gods conquered death through celibacy!
A brahmachari can live for a maximum time on the strength of his celibacy, doing incurable
work from incurable. Brahmacharya is the ultimate helper of force, intelligence and learning.
Worry and fear, they cannot spoil the brahmachari.
◦ Exercise I pray to every Indian youth, especially the Hindu society, to re-start the exercise in
every village. Exercise is a criterion to brighten the healthy gold in the body. By exercising, the
body becomes strong, strong, and the professional man can fulfill his objectives with
determination.
◦ Vidya : Vidhya Dadati Vinayam, Vinayaditya Patitam. Eligible for
Dhanamapnoti Dhanarddham, Tat Sukham. Knowledge gives humility to man,
merit is attained by humility, wealth is attained by merit, religion is blessed
with wealth and then religion gets happiness, this is the miracle of learning!
◦ Patriotism If human beings get all the qualities of the world and patriotism is
not there then nothing happens. It is less than the title of a man who is not
respectful to his country, less than worthless. Adarsh Maryada Purushottam
Ramchandra has told Janani-Janmabhoomi more than heaven. If the
patriotism comes, then all the swarth go away. ‘
◦ self-denial This is the last sixth quality. But it matters most, do any work, do
with body, mind and wealth, this is self-sacrifice or surrender. Being selfless,
destitute and determined to work for the benefit of the country, religion and
society enhances the beauty of man.
