Identification of Accidental Blind Spots On Nashik Trimbak Road"

The document is a presentation on identifying accidental blind spots on the Nashik Trimbak Road in India. A group of 6 students from the Civil Engineering department at Sandip University conducted research on the road under the guidance of Dr. Sachin Muley to identify locations with high accident rates. The presentation describes the methodology, identifies 4 locations as blind spots, and provides suggestions to avoid accidents at those locations such as shifting dividers and installing rumble strips. In conclusion, the study analyzed accident data on the 21km stretch of road and identified blind spots using a ranking method to determine the most important risk factors.

INTRODUCTION

 National highways NH848 Under national highway public works

division nashik and are considered as main veins for the
development of states in the country.
 On the other hand it has been observed that more peoples are
dying in the road accidents per hour all over the world.
 Government of India formulated for identifying accidental
prone spots on the rural highways of the state and suggested
the suitable remedial measures for reducing the accidents.
(Nashik – Trimbakeshwar NH848) has witnessed large number
of accidents since it became fully operational.
 According to daily DNA (daily news analysis) there were
accidents in 10 years of its existence.

* Keywords : Accidental, Blind Sports , National Highways

848, Nashik Trimbakeshwar.
METHODOLOGY

 An unfortunate incident that happen unexpectedly and unintentionally typically resulting in damage or injury
is termed as Accident. It has been observed that are dying per hour all over the world.
 The world health organization (WHO), in its global status reports on road safety, observers that road traffic
injuries “the leading cause of death for young people aged 15-29”. Worldwide and that while many countries
have taken steps to reduce fatal accidents from road traffic accidents the total “remains unacceptably high at
per year”
 More than people are killed on Indian roads every year and almost are injured. Nashik is having road fatality
which is almost highest in the world.
 Maharashtra is one of the India’s more advanced state and having relatively higher density of road network
as well as motor vehicles compared to other states. National highways are considered as main vein for
development of the country.
 It spans distance of (financial capital of India and administrative capital of Maharashtra) with, an

industrial and educational hub.

 While designing and planning of Nashik-Trimbak NH848 the vision may be to construct accident free

and normal causes of accidents were properly taken into consideration.

 Since, it was made fully operational, has been observed that large number of accidents are occurring

which exhibits serious fatal accidents.

 Recently according to Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) Maharashtra

State Road Development Co-orporation Limited a India accidents had occurred on Nashik-

Trimbakeshwar NH848 so it was nominated as ‘Death Trap’ by leading news paper in India.

 Therefore, it is essential to identify such accidental prone areas on Nashik-Trimbakeshwar NH848 and

the attempt has been made in this research to identify accidental black spots by method of ranking.

CONCLUSION

 The reading taken on Nashik-Trimbakeshwar NH848 then analyzed by method of ranking. According to importance
of the parameter. The most important parameter had given minimum rank.
 The percentages after giving rank were calculated and on the basis of value of percentage the accidental black spot
was identified. The method of ranking is as shown in table 4.
 It has been concluded that by considering all these parameters by using method of ranking the accidental black spots
can be identified. The separate investigation is necessary to nullify the effect of these parameters so as to reduce the
severity of accidental black spots.
 In this project we studied about the road accidents on papaya’s nursery to trimbak road nashik NH848 under Nashik
PWD division, in this project we studied about how to reduce blinds spots on roads & how can take measure and
applied road signs to reduce a road accidents.
 We studied about the road how should it made properly and accident free India's Motor Vehicles Act lagging

far behind the needs of a fast-motorizing society is painfully evident from its road safety record. In a country

witnessing 10% annual growth in vehicles, and boasting a network of 3.3 million km of roads, the Bill for

creation of a statutory National Road Safety and Traffic Management Board must be speeded up.

 Drivers should learn to show consideration and respect to co-vehicle drivers and pedestrians so that our

roads become safer. But it looks a long way to go.

 This Project is studied under the guidance of Dr .Prof. Sachin Muley Sir.
