Mini Project 231-3

This document describes a student project to create a DIY smart distribution board with Wi-Fi. The project uses an Arduino board connected to an ESP8266 module to give the board Wi-Fi connectivity and allow it to be monitored and controlled remotely. A PZEM-004T power monitor is also connected to measure voltage, current, power and energy usage. The goal is to create a scalable home automation system that can detect electrical issues and warn users in real time about problems.

ABSTRACT

 Every day, thousands of accidents occur around the world as a result of

electrical problems or breakdowns. A quick response time will help to
limit the number of fatalities and financial damages associated with
these events.
 As a result, we propose a system that will identify or detect any
electrical system defects and warn the user in real time.
 This project made up of hardware prototype and by using ESP8266
software and can be programmed just like an Arduino.
Objective
 This project presents a design and prototype implementation of new home
automation system that uses Wi-Fi technology.

 The proposed system is scalable that one server can manage many hardware
interface modules.

 This system supports a wide range of home automation devices like power
management components, and security components.
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM
ARDUINO

 The Arduino Uno is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328

(datasheet).
 It has 14 digital input/output pins of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs.
 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power
jack and a reset button
USE OF ESP8266 SOFTWARE
 The ESP8266 Wi-Fi Module is a self contained SOC with integrated TCP/IP
protocol stack that can give any microcontroller access to your Wi-Fi network.

 It is capable of either hosting an application or offloading all Wi-Fi networking

functions from another n processor.
 USE OF PZEM -004T
 This PZEM-004T Multi-function AC Power Monitor is very popular in
electrical consumption measurement projects.

 It is capable of measuring four interrelated electrical variables as voltage,

current, power, and energy.

 This tiny PZEM-004T circuit is great for measuring AC voltage, current,

and power .
Representation Model

• The best thing about the smart distribution Board with wi-fi is it can be
directly connected to Arudino with ESP8266 software.

• Connect the Smart Distribution Board to the Arudino Board.

• Connect with PZEM-004T with ESP8266 arudino software

Applications
 Used for design and prototype implementation of new home
automation system that uses WiFi technology as a network
infrastructure
