    SHORTCUTS TO BE COVERED

     MULTIPLICATION  DIVISION BY
    By 5, 25,125 5,25,125

    1. for 5, multiply number by 1. for 5, multiply number by


    10 and divide by 2 2 and divide by 10.
    2. for 25, multiply number 2. for 25, multiply number
    by 100 and divide by 4 by 4 and divide by 100.
    3. for 125, multiply number 3. for 125, multiply number
    by 1000 and divide by 8. by 8 and divide by 1000.
    MULTIPLICATION OF NUMBER WITH
    SERIES OF 1’S: 1,11,111…..
    • Step 1: Write the right hand most digit as it is.
    • Step 2: We add 2 to the number in left 3 and write 5.

    • Note: On being multiplied by 11, 111, 1111, etc.
    accordingly the numbers will be added in doublets, triplets

    MULTIPLICATION OF NUMBER
    WITH SERIES OF 9’S : 9,99,999…….
    For example: 74*99
    STEP-1: We subtract 1 from given number to obtain first
    half of answer.
    74 – 1 = 73
    STEP-2: Subtract each number(obtain from first step)
    from 9 to get second half.
    99 – 73 = 26
    STEP-3: Put the result from Step-1 on left and from Step-
    2 on right.
    Ans: 7326

    For example: 25^2

    Step-1: last digits will be 5*5 = 25

    Step-2: 2 is followed by 3, multiply 2 and 3 (i.e. consecutive


    neighbour): 2*3 = 6.
    5*5 = 25
    2*3 = 6

    Square of 25 = 625

    Note: If the sum of last digits of the numbers is 10 then also the
    same concept can be followed.
    • If last digits of number is different but their sum is 10, then
    same method can be used.
    • Note: first digit should be same in this case.
