Education & Success in Life

     

As a child one thought that getting a degree from a university would entitle me to be called an educated person. And if I get a first class, it would mean I am better educated than the one who has got a second class. Thomas Alva Edison, Bill Gates, Dhirubhai Ambani, many businessman in Goa, Position in Goa fifty years back. Mine Owners, cloth merchants etc. Most of the Founders of schools in Goa in 30s & 40s were just matriculates What is that education, beyond what we study in schools and colleges, that is necessary to be successful in life? We receive a lot of information at schools and colleges. We certainly need a lot of information to be educated. But we need to get true meaning of education.

     

 

There are two kinds of education- one that helps you educationmake a living and one that makes and shapes your life. Information based education influences Head. Values based education influences Heart. Education that does not train heart can be dangerous. True education to me is training of both the head & heart. We do not need more academic based information .We need more values based education. I have no doubt- a doubtperson morally educated will be lot more better equipped to move up in life or succeed than a morally bankrupt person with an excellent academic qualifications. We need to compete for knowledge and wisdom, not for grades. Grades are necessary for getting admissions to the institute of your choice because the system demands it. But we assess their ability to memorize.

 

It is the broad based education which will prepare the students for life without losing their areas of specialization or competence. We are born with five senses. But to me the most important is the sixth sense- the common sensesense. Common sense does not come with education it is in spite of it. Best education without commonsense is worthless. An abundance of commonsense is called Wisdom. A person can and will be successful in any profession with or without formal education if they have 5 C

It is without doubt important for children to get good academic training but the values parents teach their children are more important for real success in life. Character building, teaching values and ethics come in the formative years because a child is not born with this knowledge. Our youth does not form 100% of the population but they definitely form 100% of the future society. It should be a matter of concern that todays children however are learning their attitudes and values more from TVs, Movies & Internet than from anywhere else.

Survey By HSBA
The Survey indicates that TV &Internet is responsible for 85% of the knowledge. By the time they are out of school ,he/she has watched 20,000hrs.of TV,witnessed 1000 murders and another 5000 alcohol related scenes.They convey the message that drinking is Fun,Smoking is Glamorous and Drugs are in thing

It could mean different things to different people. Foundation of Success regardless of Chosen Path is Attitude. It is your way of looking at a situation. It is an approach . But it is certainly not an accident. It is the result of our attitude. Success does not mean absence of Failures. It means attainment of ultimate Objective. Success does not come without efforts.

     

To some success would mean accumulation of wealth. To others it could mean recognition, happiness, sense of fulfillment. Money will buy Medicines but not Health Food But not Appetite Bed but not Sleep Books but not Wisdom Ring but not a Happy Marriage. Bill Gates-What is it that 2nd Billion can buy Gateswhich 1st billion Dollars cannot?

Success is progressive realization of a worthy Goal. Progressive means it is a journey. Realization means a sense of fulfillment.The area under ( It is the area under the curve which is more important than the slope at a particular point of time. Success is not how we are doing compared with others but by how we are doing compared with what v are capable of doing. -Successful people compete with themselves. They better their own records and keep improving.

Success is not how high we go in life but by how many times we bounce back, when we fall down. e.g. Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Alva Edison. If there is a setback- learn from it. Let it be a setbackstepping stone-not a Stumbling Block. stoneYou are not defeated until you lose your patience. Even a tortoise does not get ahead unless he sticks his neck out. Successful people do not do different things. They do things differently.
