Demonstration in Law of Integers

The document provides a lesson plan for a 7th grade mathematics class on operations of integers that includes reviewing previous concepts, introducing new material through examples and activities, and assigning practice problems for students to solve integers operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division based on rules for different sign combinations. The lesson objectives are for students to differentiate integer operation rules and procedures, find sums of integers, and solve problems involving integer addition.

Attendance
Present
Teacher Ann.
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should
be able to:

a.differentiate the rules and procedures for all

integer operations.
b.find the sum of integers;
c.solve problems involving addition of integers.
Review
Activity 1:

Differentiate the
pictures.
Activity 1:
Activity 1:

What have you

observe in the
picture?
Activity 1:

What are the

similarities and
differences on the
pictures?
Activity 2:
What’s My Birthday?
Step 1:

Write the birth month

number of your
birthday.
Step 2:

Multiply by 5.

What is the answer?

Is it your month and

date of birth?
Activity 3:
Compare and Contrasts

Determine wheither
the given problem is
greater than or less
than.
17 _____ 71
103 ____ 102
25 ____ 52
-17 ____ 17

OPERATION OF
INTEGERS
SIGNS FOR ADDITION
(+) + (+) = +
(-) + (-) = -
(+) + (-) = Subtract the digits and keep
(-) + (+) = the sign of the larger digit.
ADDITION RULES
1. To add two numbers with the same sign (like sign), add the
numbers together. The answer will have the same sign as the
numbers.
ex.) 3 + 5 = 8 -3 + (-5) = -8

2. To add two numbers with different signs (unlike sign), take the
bigger digit and subtract the other digit. Your answer will have
the same sign as the bigger digit.
ex.) -3 + 5 = 2 3 + (-5) = -2
Examples…
1.) -1 + 4 =3

2.) 7 + (-3) =4

3.) -2 + (-2) = -4

4.) 6 + (-9) = -3
Activity 5: Bingo
1. Solve the presented question related
to operation of integers.
2. Mark the card based the question
being drawn.
3. Mark the answers until you come up
with a pattern.
4. Then shout BINGO!
SUBTRACTION PROCESS
•When subtracting integers:
•Change the subtraction sign to addition
•Change the sign of ONLY the next
number to its opposite.
•Follow the rules for addition
EXAMPLE
 14 – (-12)
 14 – (-12) Change the operation to addition
 14 – (-12) Change the next number to its opposite

Then follow the rules for addition. The signs

are now the same, so add and give the
common sign. 14 + 12 = 26.
EXAMPLE
 -28 – (-20) =
 -28 – (-20) = Change the operation to addition
 -28 – (-20) = Change the next number to its opposite

Now the signs are different, so find the difference

(subtract) and give the sign of the larger absolute value.
28 – 20 = 8.
-28 has a larger absolute value, it is negative so the
answer to the problem is negative. -28 – (-20) = -8
TRY THIS
 32 – (-3) =

 -40 – 66 =

 2 – 48 =
TRY THIS

 32 – (-3) = 35

 -40 – 66 =

 2 – 48 =
TRY THIS

 32 – (-3) = 35

 -40 – 66 = -106

 2 – 48 =
TRY THIS

 32 – (-3) = 35

 -40 – 66 = -106

 2 – 48 = -46
RULES FOR MULTIPLYING INTEGERS

 The product of two integers with the SAME SIGN is

positive.

 The product of two integers with DIFFERENT SIGNS

is negative.
EXAMPLES FOR THE RULES…

Same (+) (+)

Sign (-) (-) +
(+) (-)
Different
Signs (-) (+) -
EXAMPLES FOR THE RULES…

Same
3(4) = 12 -3(-4) = 12
Sign

Different -3(4) = -12 3(-4) = -12

Signs
EXAMPLES…

 1.) 2(-6) = -12

 2.) 4(-5) = -20

 3.) -7(-2) = 14
RULES FOR DIVIDING INTEGERS

 The quotient of two integers with the SAME SIGN

is positive.

 The quotient of two integers with DIFFERENT

SIGNS is negative.
EXAMPLES FOR THE RULES…

Same
3(4) = 12 -3(-4) = 12
Sign

Different -3(4) = -12 3(-4) = -12

Signs
Remember…

 Divide numbers like normal

 An even amount of negative signs will give
you a positive answer
 An odd amount of negative signs will give you
a negative answer
EXAMPLES…
 -32 ÷ 8 = -4

 -48 ÷ (-6) = 8

 -56 ÷ (-4) = 14
Activity 4:

Construct 3 more
examples of operation
of integers based on
what you have pick on
the previous activity.
Criteria:

Content- 7 points
Participation- 3 points
Activity 5: BINGO
STEPS:
1. Solve different question presented.
2. Mark your bingo card if the answer
is on your card.
3. Say BINGO if you formed a pattern.
Record 5/5
State your
score.
