KEYS TO REMEMBER
• Always plan the Deck or jacket not resting directly on the trailer (i.e.,
prefer temporary loadout frame to avoid rework on the permanent
member)
• Plan trailer arrangement and grouping
• The trailer arrangement should be capable of enter to the barge and
retrieve from the barge after the module lowered
• Check the clashes with barge (i.e., bollard, winch etc. which is on the
barge)

• Use Lift model or inplace model up to your comfort and modify to
suit loadout analysis.
• Model temporary members such as loadout frames if applicable.
• Identify the trailer group and model the springs
• From the Yard soil SBC calculate the Spring stiffness
METHODOLOGY
Spring Stiffness calculation

• The stiffness at each support (trailer) has been derived based on a soil modulus of sub-grade
reaction of 64000 kN/m3, single tyre contact area of the trailer is (0.36x0.27m) 0.0972m2 and the
effective number of tyres per trailer considered is twelve (3 effective rows x 2 axles x 2tyres /
axle).

Hence, stiffness at each support (trailer) = 12 x 0.0972 x 64000 = 74650 kN/m.

• The horizontal stiffness at each support point location is assumed to be 10% of the vertical
stiffness.
(Ensure X & Y spring force should be negligible)

(Note :- 64000 kN/m3 is based on yard soil modulus)
