What is Artificial Intelligence?
Artificial Intelligence is a branch
of computer science that deals
with programming computers
to think and act like humans.
These computer can then solve
tasks and problems without
human interference. It is one of
the most popular topics
nowadays.
Domains of AI
There are three Domains of AI:-
1. Computer Vision
2. Natural Language Processing
3. Data Science
Computer Vision
As the name suggests, Computer
Vision is a domain of AI which
deals with analyzing images and
producing output on the basis
of it. It enables the computers
to see and understand the world
around them.
Google Lens is a very popular
example of Computer Vision.
Natural Language Processing
It is a domain of AI which
helps computers to
understand and interpret
human language, and
produce outputs based on
it. We interact with NLP in
our daily life in the form of
Google Assistant or Siri.
Data Science
If AI is Baahubali- The beginning,
Data Science is S.S. Rajamouli. It
is one of the most important
domains of AI.
It deals with analyzing, interpreting
and taking out conclusions from
data. Both CV and NLP owe their
existence to Data Science.
It has become such a popular
career option now that IITians
who studied PCM in their early
days now work as data scientists.
Three types of AI based on capability
• Narrow AI (ANI)- This is the only type
of AI that we have achieved till date.
It is capable of performing single
tasks by itself with great efficiency.
• General AI (AGI)- This is AI which
mimics human intelligence. It can
perform tasks with the efficiency of a
human
• Strong AI (ASI)- This is AI which has
surpassed human intelligence. It can
perform tasks better than humans. It
is currently a distant dream.
AI in Real world
AI has so many uses that it is impossible
to list all of them here. My computer
has very less memory, so please be
satisfied with the given:-
• Chatbots (Siri, Alexa)
• Google Lens
• Facial Recognition Softwares
• Netflix and Amazon Prime giving you
recommendations based on your taste.
• Spam filters in Gmail (This PPT is
written by a Nigerian Prince)
• Autocorrect (which helped me in
completing this PPT)
And many more….
Will AI take over Humans?
No. AI will take over humans when hell
freezes over (which isn’t going to
happen anytime soon.)
AI is still in its infant stage. Till now, we
have only achieved AI programs who
can solve a single task. We won’t be
achieving ASI capabilities anytime soon.
We simply don’t know how to actually
make machines have emotions, and
how much time it will take in achieving.
Maybe the Sun would have turned into
a Red giant till we achieve this.
